It was an interesting choice. Putin has helped Russia economically, but hurt it politically.
Didn't Time make Hitler man of the year once for the same reasons?
In terms of political influence within Russia, unquestionably. But in terms of international influence, I don't know.

Mr. Putin has done much for his nation. However his Leadership style does not reflect what most Russians
see as a constructive way of managing its wealth !
Therefore even though he is "liked " by the "upper classes".
the average citizen in Russia would not vote him for "Man of the Year." and from what I know and read ..i Cannot vote him as that either!
So NO! .... there are many other more deserving candidates!

Nope but obviously someone thinks so!
"Putin, whose party recently won a big victory in parliamentary elections, is riding high on an oil-fueled economic boom and soaring popularity from a no-nonsense approach that has restored national pride with a big military build-up and verbal attacks on the West reminiscent of the Cold War!!"

I only know what I read and hear in our media. He sounds like a growing monster but I am not living in Russia. You should be man of the year because of the number of questions you ask. I hope you have a life beyond Yahoo Answers and your making a lot of money.

He has brought a lot of International focus on his country so I think for that he does deserve some credit. He has been in the news much more than normal and speaks directly. I can't judge him on other stuff though as I don't know enough.

What an odd choice. Is that who they picked? I wonder who the real man of the year is. Probably some guy no one has heard of that goes around making people's lives better in little ways.
God, I'm so effing tired. I need to sleep.
