Am I the only one who perceives a certain militancy to it all?

I too see a staunch dislike of Christians and Christianity, or one of the two from many on this forum. I have always been interested in religion, even when I was atheist, so I understand why some are on here for sure. However, I do not get the hostility toward strangers they have no clue breathed up until they arrived here and daily make fun of and berate for the sake of "fun" Weak and compromised character, in my opinion.

EDIT: Gantz: and you would be taking out that frustration on people who hold a particular belief because you dont believe atheists are represented in the constitution? What do I (a fellow US citizen) have to do with whether or not YOU get proper representation from the Government?

This section tends to classify people as either Christian or atheist. There are tons of different types of Christians and also tons of different religions. Likewise there are tons of different types of non-Christians.

I am a theist but anti-religious. Yes, I do feel militant and do reply with rhetoric sometimes but its usually when I get frustrated by a bigotry from either side. This bigotry is mostly seen coming from the religious here; I'd say about 70/30. We all should strive to challenge bigots wherever they reside and whatever stripe we wear.

I just wish we had more intellectual, not emotional debate.

Eh I'm not an anti-theist.

I don't attack christians or religion on here.

I more just hang out to address questions posed to atheists.

You are right though, alot of the atheists on here are militant atheists-- an ever-quickly growing group. Just is bad as organized religion I think.

On the other hand, I don't think many of the regulars are anti-theistic. Just chillin'

Well, yes. You would be right to notice a certain tinge of militancy among the atheist crowd; but what did you expect? We are one of the most oppressed groups of people (especially those of us living in the US); and all that freedom crap in the Constitution seems to go out the window when an atheist is the issue of discussion.

Anti-theism.

Theism exists.

An atheist can't be anti God. You have to believe something exists before you can be "anti-" it.

And yes, there is a certain militancy to it, but it's a militancy of minds and reason and intellect and evidence, rather than a militancy of guns and bombs and emotional manipulation and abuse.

That's why we're stronger than you guys (we think).

The world is a path, life is a journey to that ultimate goal, The Holy Spirit.
The path is fraught with trials and turbulence and tribulation. We at times lose direction, lose faith, are misled astray.
Th egoal remians constant, as does the world. The many paths and roads are straight and broad for those who have vision and belief. A veritable maze of confusion, disillusion mayhem and discord for those without.

No. No more 'militant' than the Christians on here.

I'm certainly not anti-God or anti-theistic, but I AM anti-ignorant and anti-forcefeeding.

Some Atheists come off that way, but not all. If you don't believe in something/someone then I don't think you should also hate them. If you hate someone then you believe that they existence. I don't believe in Santa, but I'm not anti-Mr. Clause! Anyways. Trashing religion/God/etc is pointless.
