You'll come here soon enough after training. No need to volunteer.

If you have completed boot camp and are an official member of the United States military you absalutly can. All you have to do is file a request and trust me...you will get it. Of course they take the willing first ...and as we all know much more after that..But dont get too excited...after Ron Paul is elected we wont be in Iraq..hahaha just kidding that has nothing to dow ith this. Good Luck and i hope ull be ok..tell the Iraqis i said "aselemo aleykum"!!

Marine, just go to your MOS school and do your best. Your future will play out afterward. If your MOS is required over there then you may get orders, if it's not you may not. For now, keep your mouth shut, and your eyes and ears open and you'll be fine. Semper Fi

once you get to your duty station, you can request to be put in the pool of Volunteers who can be tapped to go as individuals. or you could see if there is a unit scheduled to deploy in the next year and ask for that assignment.
They may or may not let a NUB go right away.

DON'T GO... don't go! My name is Elizabeth Sourivong and my brother passed away KIA 30th September... he was only 20 and he volunteered, YES, you can volunteer. Um... I don't know I personally discourage it because my brother passed away... and hell yeah it can happen. Once my brother got out of basic... I think it was about a year when he got shipped over and 3 months into when he passed

My boyfriend is in the Air Force, serving in Qatar right now. I am fairly sure that you have to complete all of your training, 'tech school', whatever you call it before you can go. I am sure they will be more than happy to send you after that.

You couldn't go to Silicon Valley to be a CEO or an IT manager? It is safe and you will boost the American economy instead of increasing debt. Even better, Iraqis won't be terrorized that someone will fly from America to their homeland to do nothing but shoot at them.
And didn't you know that US troops will be coming back home by the end of 2008?. They were supposed to invade Iran after Iraq but Iraqis proved to be damn good.
