There is one and only one God. If there were 2 or many gods, the whole universe would be a total mess. I know you won't agree with me. See two people can not get along for a long time. same goes with God.
God is uncreated. He is not begotten or begets nothing.

My friend the below incident might answer your query..
Once the pagans of Arabia came to prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) and asked him the same question, as to who is god ? The prophet was confused, didn't know what to say. He only knew that if the entire oceans water was made ink and and whole worlds leaves were paper even then describing god will not be possible, cause he possesses infinite attributes. At that very moment god sent down a revelation by the angel Gabriel (God sent down many revelations to the prophet which later were compiled in the form of Quran-which is the religious scripture of the muslims) This was a 4 liner which is so immaculate and distinct that nothing can describe god better, It reads as follows-
Say: He is Allah, the One and Only!
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.
If anyone claims to be god then he will have to satisfy the above, Now coming to your question why only one god, The last verse explains that - There is nothing like him - God is one who has neither a beginning nor an end , A Creator with no beginning and no end cannot create another creator having no beginning and no end, Not possible. Regarding who created god, No one, God is the Creator of all no one created him he is absolute and eternal.

Because God says in the bible that there is only one God and it is Him. (The first commandment) Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods besides Me." So the first commandment says that there is only one God and the second commandment says that you cannot worship anything else such as idols or multiple gods as the pagans did at the time or worship of the sun or moon or fire which many used to and some still do. Exodus 20:4 "You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image, or any likeness of what is in the heavens above, or on the earth below, or in the waters under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I the Lord your God am an impassioned God, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generations of those who reject Me, but showing kindness to the thoussandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments."

People just say there is one God because they believe the bible is a book of history, which it is not. Those events cannot be proven and have not even in their time (otherwise we'd have tons of records from the ancients about events like parting the red sea, or a man walking on water!). It's a mythological text and simply acknowledges a monotheistic myth of history from beginning unto future ages.
It is no different from what other sages have written about how there cultures believe in many gods, ages, and foundations of the world. Most ancients believed the universe was eternal and created those gods by itself. Not that there was one uncreated being that just happened to exist forever.
We have no way of knowing how many deities there really are, but judgeing from the ancients I'd have to side with polytheism over monotheism or atheism. Just my personal belief.

Just take example of a country. Why do you have only one king or president . Why not two.. Because there would be clashes...its nonsensical. And this is the situation of a tiny country. Then how can we have multi rulers for this vast universe..?
There is only one God. He is the One ruler The one sustainer of the whole universe and all that is in it.
Say, God is One,
God The Everlasting, The Eternal,
He has not given birth and was not born,
And equal to him is not anyone(Quran)
"If God created everything - then who created God?"
According to the Quran, Allah tells us that He is the only creator and sustainer of all that exists and that nothing and no one exists alongside Him, nor does He have any partners. He tells us that He is not created, nor is He like His creation in anyway. He calls Himself by a number of names and three of them are:
A) The First - (Al-Awal)
B) The Last - (Al Akhir)
C) The Eternal, who is sought after by His creation, while He has no need from them at all. (As-Samad)
He always has existed and He never was created, as He is not like His creation, nor similar to it, in any way.

We actually don't know, and we're unable to verify (for obvious reasons).
All we know is that there is only one deity who has shown himself, and this controversy over his existence goes all the way back to before the flood, the first time "y'hovah" was used.
In Semitic languages, especially Hebrew, his name simply means "I'm the real god", technically, "I am". The name in Sumerian would have special meaning that includes the perceived destiny of the deity, as well. In other words, the deity would have been named for the single biggest thing the deity was known for, existence.
We have for at least 4500 years set this deity apart from all others in that all other gods are man-made.

Don't believe what these people tell you, no one knows if there are 0 gods or 1000 gods or 10,000 gods.
I can't imagine how anyone could have the nerve to claim to know such things.

God is a spiritual being that is infinite. We can't quite grasp that in our physical, finite world.
A big diamond can have many facets and still be one diamond. In fact, the more facets a diamond has, the more beautiful and reflective it is. I think God has many facets too. We just can't imagine them all until we see them.
