I have a PS3 imported from USA. Many websites say that ps3 is region free. Is this only valid for PS3 games? Because I've been trying to play PS2 games on it (they're European) and they do not work... Any advice?
Is there a chip that enables this???

PS3 games are region free, but PS1/2 games and movies aren't. There is no solution for that (I have some great PAL PS2 games and I can't play them too). I don't know where are you from, but here, in Eastern Europe there are some small stores, that sell imported PS2 games. That's the only solution. If you have 40GB console - it doesn't play PS2 games at all (in all regions).

While PS3 games are region free, Blue Ray Discs and PS2 games are not.
So either you got a 40 GB PS3 model, that can't play PS2 games anyway, or the region protection keeps you from playing your PS2 games.

There is no modchip for the PS3, since the system is being run in a virtual machine called a Hypervisor, with no direct connection to the hardware. So there is currently no way to use a modchip.

PS3 games are region free, however PS2 games, DVD movies, and Blu Ray Disc movies are region coded. There is no way to make your PS3 completely region free.
