I heard it's going to be awesome. With inpenetratable security, flip 3D, an awesome (not resource hogging) Aero interface that will make you piss yourself with joy, DirectX10 support, Windows Media Center, the NOT ANNOYING AT ALL user account control. I also heard it's going to be light and fast... And stable. Man that Bill Gates is a nice fellow to bring us such a great operating system.

Hmm, not one of awesome, impenetrable security, awesome Aero Interface, NOT ANNOYING AT ALL user account control, light and fast, stable can be defined in objective terms.
They all depend on the user's expectations and tolerance levels.
Perhaps the Vista that has come out around a year ago fulfills all these (subjective) promises to Bill Gates and his devotees alone.
Then it is unlucky for him that you are not one of his faithful devotees and dare to have a standard of your own that is not identical tot that of Bill G ;)

the OS you mention is still not released. SP1 was just released last week (didnt do much). SP2 is a year or 2 away. so i would estimate the Vista you are looking for will come out of the closet with SP3 in late 2010.
by that time MS may have a new OS that makes everybody praise Vista. that crazy MS strategy is wierd, but it works. look how Vista has made XP look like the model of stability. unbelievable!

yeah.. probably about the same time a linux distro comes out that doesn't require newbies to learn how a bunch of arcane commands in a command line?
Or that doesn't feature broken installations when you put software on it?
Or a linux MCE that anyone can install and run without having to spend many hours of forum posts and trial and error ?
