the real question is, how many times did picard leave his 2nd in command and the ship WASN'T taken over? Answer=0 So, if a second in command loses control of the ship EVERY time he is given control, isn't that like a dischargable signal of incompetance?

I recall reading that someone did a study about that. I don't remember the number, but let's just say that he's second only to Janeway in that regard. She is the owrst culprit in that regard - just because she was 7,537,346,356,744,743,646,229,354,956 miles away!
