I want to show my doc that they are related! Everytime I get a migraine it starts with severe neck and back pain.

Elle,

I'm sure your doctor doesn't doubt that you have migraines, or that you have neck pain. Chronic cervicogenic or other spinal related pain syndromes and their related muscular spastic events are commonly a source of chronic or recurrent headaches. The question would be is if the resultant headache is truly a migraine or a non-migrainous severe headache with similar symptomology.

A second consideration is the stress or other factors related to your cervico-spinal issues could be a trigger or precipitating factor for a migrainous headache.

A significant issue in health care is the misdiagnosis of headache syndromes. Migraines are diagnosed as tension or sinus headaches because they do not follow a pattern as understood by the physician or patient, or a non-migraine headache is called a migraine, because it is severe and the person is sensitive to light and is nauseous.

Studies have found that the biggest two obstacles to proper diagnosis of headaches are the mindset of the physician, and the mindset of the patient.

In general, for an initial visit with a headache specialist, a patient is expected to be in the clinic from 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Significantly more than the 15 minute appointment usually seen by most patients. This is what has happened as a result of insurance changes and decreases in reimbursements.

I hope you can find a resolution to your headache issues, Arguing with your doctor will not change anyone's mind. You may need to be evaluated by a specialist in headaches if your recrrent headaches persist.

It could just be a tension headache, or it could be cervical radiculopathy, try looking that up. In any case, do what you can now and treat the symptoms, if the pain persists on days further throughout the week, try and get an MRI, a good way to see if you do have Cervical Radiculopathy, you have some of the symptoms for it any ways. Oh and btw... cold compress works if you're trying to constrict blood flow (i.e. for headaches, migraines, etc. lessens the pain) but when considering muscular pain, you want to use heated compresses to loosen up the muscles and when they are loose you want to move them around so they don't tighten up again the same way they were previously. Also, you don't need to go into a dark room unless you are having sensitivity to light (photophobia), which people generally get with migraines, but if your not feeling it, that will server no purpose.

Headaches can definitely be related to neck and back pain, though, of course, not all the time with everyone.

No site can help you i think if you want meds.

Pl do simple acupressure given below. If pain persists you will have to go for Acupuncture.

Alternate systems of medicine can only help you.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.
