now, I've been sick for a few days, but I haven't had any vomiting or diarreha yet.

My brother went out to eat with his fiancee's grandpa and when he came home from work about 10 hours later, he vomited once, then felt better, just weak and tired.

The next morning (today) he felt ok compared to the night before, while not 100%, but decided to go out, and has been out from 5pm to now going on 1am and he's still not back, so he must be ok enough to stay out.

My question is.... if I've been sick for 2 days, nauseas but able to hold food down, is there still a chance I have or am coming down with the stomach flu

and did my brother have the stomach flu, or does it sound like food poisoning? cause I'm hand sanitizing, Lysol spraying, bleaching everything so I don't get sicker than I already am...

how sudden can the flu come on? can you be fine one second and puking a few hours later? and how long till I know if I have the stomach flu or something else (like influenza.)

also, neither of us have the flu shot. (for me, last time I had it I had an asthmatic reaction, so my doc recommended against having it again for now.)

Most common types of food poisoning (salmonella) causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea 4-5 hours after eating. And it's almost always right on that 4 hour window. So if your brother vomited 10 hours later, it probably wasn't caused by food poisoning.

It's probably the flu - so hand washing is a good idea.

And everyone's immune system is different, that's why my husband can be violently ill with the flu for a week, and I don't even get the sneezes, or I can run a fever of 102 and he's goes on like normal.

So you may never get full blown symptoms, like your brother, because you might not have the same flu bug and you both react differently to it.

Gosh, stay in bed, make sure you power down all the fluids you can keep down, and get better!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

Hard to say. I had food poisoning and I was sick for an entire day. Threw up for about 6 hours, then was sick the rest of that day until I went to bed. Woke up the next morning perfectly fine. But I was out of it at least 24 hours.

Because you've been sick 2 days, I suspect a stomach virus. Takes longer to get rid of.

It's more likely a stomach virus.

There is no such thing as stomach flu. The flu is a respiratory virus. It's never connected to the stomach in any way. There is no throwing up with the flu either.

There are only stomach viruses.
