Once again, I could not agree more with "Devon P", he called it right on the button!! Except one thing he left out, And that would be that little has-been-t.r.amp "ROBBIN-GIVENS-TYSON". I personaly think she messed with that mans head more than anyone else did. I mean look how she was treating him in public! He weant from a "Ferocious-Fighter" to a "Whimpering-Husband-On-A-Short-Leash". She even made him dress differently for Gods sake! I honestly felt sorry for him when he married that tra.m.p. It was her that helped more than anyone destroy his career. I mean when Cuss Demotto passed away, That tore him up bad, The guy was like a Dad to him, and brought him up from nothing to a Title-Holder. But after he died anyways, Ole-Mike got hooked-up with the wrong crowd for sure! But when he went and married Robbin Givens, And I seen how she was treating him on National Television, I knew it was all-over except the crying. I felt sorry for him. Man, they used him so bad it drove his a.s.s crazier than a s.h.i.t-house-rat. He didnt have a chance with that crowd, and that tramp. he was done. I am just like "Devon P", except I fought years ago in a different weight, But, I am "Still" an AVID Boxing-Fan, and I swear I did not-know Mike Tyson was fighting Buster Douglas until the next day when I read the headlines, and seen it all over the news. I was "Stunned" to say the least! Poor Mike's eye was so swollen his head looked pregnant, haha. Really I did feel sorry for him, and knew why he lost like that too. If he was with Cuss, Single, and would have fought Douglas, it would have been a repeat of the "Spinks" fight, 90-seconds, if not less. I had only "Heard" of Douglas before that fight, I am not sure he was even ranked in the top-10 in any division, (W.B.A., W.B.C., I.B.F.) Any of them, even the W.B.O type ones! Well,, Thats the way I see it anyways. Take Care and God-Bless to You and Yours. 1st. Sgt., 7th Special Forces, (Ret.) Vietnam 67-70

Fitzsimmons was already a world champion when he challenged Corbett for the Heavyweight Title. Corbett was boxing circles around Fitz until he got caught. It was a shocking win but nothing as Shocking almost a hundred years later with Douglas vs Tyson. Douglas did something no other fighter did against Tyson. He came with a good game plan and performed it well. He clearly outboxed a out of shape mentally Tyson and KO'd him in 10. Now I love Tyson and know this fight could have been over in 3 rounds if Tyson did not have that outside influence around him in his ear and a terrible corner. A 42 to 1 underdog knocked out a man who dominated the division for 5 years with fury! NOW THAT IS A UPSET! Plus Douglas lost to Tony Tucker a guy who Tyson beat. WOW!

It's tough to take the Corbett loss too seriously. He probably was a little over 175 pounds for that fight, and wasn't a hard hitter anyway. And the rules were so different back then, that Fitzsimmons was probably on a relatively level playing field.
Now Douglas over Tyson, that was an upset. In hindsight, we know Tyson was ready for a fall ... but Douglas did little besides eat after winning the title.
By the way, Ali over Liston the first time was considered a huge upset. Now we know better.

When Fitzsimmons upset Corbett it was definetly considered an upset as Corbett was most definetly the superior boxer. Fitzsimmons had a heavyweight punch and when he hit Corbett with his famous solar plexus punch, that was it. When Douglas beat Tyson, he dedicated this fight to his late Mother and was literally on a mission from God. He was in perfect condition like he had never been before and completely ready to fight Tyson. He always had potential and good boxing ability. I think Tyson probably was not mentally in the fight like he should have been as he was always used to relying on his superior power and surely was not expecting this kind of fight from heavy underdog Douglas. What amazed most people regarding their fight was Douglas standing right there in front of Mike and fighting him toe to toe and often landing the bigger punches. Douglas had the heart of a champion that night and shocked everyone and as a big underdog, it would have to be considered the biggest upset.

Without a doubt Tyson -Douglas. ''Buster'' was a 42-1 underdog, Tyson was coming off vicious kayo's of Bruno in 5 and Carl Williams in 1. And he was considered the best p4p in the sport. Douglas was only known as a bum who was beaten by Tony Tucker. In my opinion that not only was the biggest upset in heavyweight history but probably sports history for that matter.
