Its a sign of the times. We are a "peculiar" people after all, and as children of God are different from the people(world) around us. They are not God's, and have NO respect for His name, what reason should they have for celebrating a Christian Holiday that makes them feel guilty for the sins they have committed? The whole christianity thing is to be forgiven and to confess your sins, right? And to at least try to keep from sinning. That is too much for the world we live in.
Hope this helps!!!!
Blessings!
I am seeing some really good answers to the question above,... Keep it up, people!
God Bless!

Here is a letter that I wrote to the editor of our local newspaper. I came out today (12/20). This is an ongoing debate in my hometown!
____________________
To respond to the teacher, Peter K______, my comment was not eluding to a state mandate against saying Merry Christmas in public schools. My statement was made in general terms. I am curious though why schools in A_____ County have "Winter Recess" instead of Christmas Break on their calendar. Also, there are several A____ County schools Christmas programs titled "winter" or "holiday", not Christmas as they have been in the past. Take a look outside of the area; there are many schools across the country that are slowly doing away with any Christian reference to all holidays.
In the past week, I have read several newspaper articles about the agenda of the Americans United for Separation of Church and State's to ban Christians from helping the needy in public schools. Laces 4 Love was being criticized for giving shoes to needy children in public schools like, Greendale Elementary. Roger ______ and Deb ______ both wrote letters to the editor responding the outrageous actions of public school children being denied charity because of the fear that Christians will share their faith.
All of these actions are intertwined. Maybe A_____ County schools aren't outwardly stating not to say Merry Christmas, but changes are taking place that eventually the statement of Merry Christmas will be a greeting of the past. These actions are used to sanitize the holiday season, because of fears of being politically incorrect and to go succumb to those against organized religion.

With faith being booted out the door in further and extra places this is not any ask your self the international is going loopy!!!! this is as much as us mom and father completely now to verify our young toddlers journey the Christmas Season the way we did as quickly as we've been young toddlers. So we are off to work out Santa today and we can be going to church on Christmas Eve and we are trucking alongside making great ideas each and every 365 days!

i starred your question, because it is quite insightful. I agree that Christmas programs should include Christ. He is the reason for the season.
It is a lot like the concept of MULTI CULTURALISM, honouring ethnic cultures, here in Canada, where we aim for a "Mosaic" rather than a USA-style melting pot. It seems that the government defines multiculturalism as foreign cultures of every country EXCEPT our own.
As a white man I understand the concept of "reverse discrimination".
I missed out on a scholarship once because a non white's marks were "almost" as good as mine.
But I have to wonder why it is not concidered wrongful "discrimination" too.
I guess discrimination is only wrong if we do it.
That is the deal with taking Christ out of Christmas, and God out of GOOD!
Mamy unfriendly Yahoo "evangelists" for doubt and unbelief seem to want to take religion out of R & S ("Religion and Spirituality")
God forgive them, for the know NOT .

Isnt that funny? A few months ago, i was scanning my sisters history book, it had everything about islam. How the religion was formed, it even had an a little part of the Quran in there. But you wont find a single christian thing there. If you even take a bible to school, you can get suspended. I mean the whole constitution is from the bible, at least the one America was built on in the beginning. I ask my self the same question

Because many abuses have taken place in the name of Christ, and pejorative malignancy of lesser known faiths have caused many to pursue these matters in the courts with evident effect.
If all Christians were Christ like, then everyone else would desire them to be their educators and governors...
Do you think it wise for a faith which teaches if someone takes your coat then give them your shirt also, even give up your life for the sake of others, to complain easily? No it is certainly not wise, nor Christ like. Remove the splinter or plank from your own eye(s) first, and you will see that the eye of love/charity sees no evil, as St. Paul has attested.
God bless.

I'm not sure how you figure that they "refer to every religion except Christianity" when the separation of church and state prohibits any focus on religion, no matter which it is. Religions are hardly ever brought up in public schools, and when they are it's typically to discuss history or other relevant issues tied in with it. Calling them holiday programs instead of Christmas programs is just to avoid violating the church-state separation laws, and is essentially still the same thing.
And anyway, what's wrong with mentioning other religions now and then? Not everyone is Christian, and all religions should be given equal consideration in public matters.
Oh, and as far as the Constitution being from the Bible....look again, cuz that's completely false. The founding fathers were the ones who wanted freedom and equality for ALL beliefs and lifestyles, not just the freedom to be fundamentalist dictators. Look at what our country was *really* founded on, and who the founding fathers were as individual people, and you'll realize that Christianity had NOTHING to do with any of it. Huge misconception many people have, but still untrue.

Where is this happening, Stone Rolled? I've never seen one that refers to anything other than Christianity. It's either Christianity or nothing, in my experience.

Well i can tell you one thing I had to sit through two hours of Jewish songs and Santa crap, but was a song that included one teeny tiny mention of Jesus for the Christmas holiday? Nope. Sign of the times.

You are correct, the last time I went to a "Holiday" progaram, there were menorahs and colorful hats for Kwanza but nothing was mentioned regarding Christmas? I don't understand it either.
