I love sardines, but cannot afford them anymore. I bought a can today for $1.90 for 1 can. I remember buying them for .39 quite a while ago. I am not blaming anyone, but it seems a bit high. NO negative responses please.

Wow! I thought I was paying a lot at one dollar 7 cents. Yeah, not too long ago Sardines were like 45 cents a can and Jack Mackerel was like 80 cents. Everything lately has jumped up around like 20-30%. All merchant buisnesses seem to cling on to that excuse of "fuel costs more so does the product now" like the dairy farmers, "ethanol raises the price of corn" funny how the dairy farmers actually own the Co-op that makes the ethanol and in turn still are able to use the processed corn to feed the cows. I would love to find the economists who told them to do this. I encourage us all to demand a 40% raise this year to compensate for rising costs. That will fly... bout like a lead balloon.

Try looking at a cheaper store. Big Lots has them in my area for .59 to .99 cents a can depending on the brand. Save a Lot & Aldi's are also less expensive.
$1.90 is expensive unless it's a large can.

Sardines, kippers, pickled herring, tins of smoked oysters....all fish products have nearly trebbled in price here over the last five months! So much for the very economical family meal of tinned kippers, boiled potatoes and poached eggs.
