"Ephraim is a cake not turned" (Hosea 7:8b). Anyone who has ever enjoyed a pancake knows what happens to a cake that is not turned. In these days they cooked them on rocks or even the hot coals. There was no low, medium, or high heat to make the adjustment needed to provide something good and edible for your family. You had to watch closely to maintain a proper balance to see that both sides of this cake was browned properly.Burned on one side, raw on the other is not how I like my cakes to be.
Christians need to find the same balance in all that they do as well. How do we find the right balance here at Christmas time?
Those who first heard of the promise of our Lord's coming were Adam an Eve,(Gen.3:15)
Every Prophet spoke of the birth of Jesus.
Every feast that the Jews observed pointed to the coming Messiah.
The Star in heaven above set over Him day and night, as if watching Him.
Wisemen were the only ones to see it.They followed it from a land far away.Just to bring their gifts and worship Him.
A multitude of heavenly host praised God at His coming saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men".
Lowly sheperds heard it and left all that they owned to go see this wonderful sight.A sheperd will never leave the sheep.
Kings feared His Birth to such a degree that many innocent babies were killed in hopes of getting rid of this Child.
I cannot with a good conscience disregard Christmas because the day isn't right, or because its supposed to have its roots in some pagan holiday.I can do away with santa claus and presents that I can't afford.
I can give a gift and practice moderation.
I can tell my children and grandbabies that we are celebrating our Lords birth.
We get together for a nice meal with family, and strangers who have no family of their own.
Read the story of Jesus and His Birth in Luke 2.
Sing Christmas songs and Carol those who are lonely and shut in.
We don't have to give up, nor should we give up recognizing the birth of Jesus, just the things that this world has added to it.

Nowhere. God never left a date.
In the Bible only pagans celebrated birthdays.
Pharoah in the O.T. and Herod in the N.T.

In 300AD Roman Catholics started to celebrate the birth of Christ, which doesn't make it right.

Not one single place. Matthew and Luke are the only books to record it to show that Jesus fit the prophecy's made about Him, but no where does it say to celebrate it. No where in Acts or anywhere else do we have a glimpse of people actually celebrating it. It is not Biblical.

We aren't instructed to celebrate Christ's birth anywhere in the Bible. We are, however, instructed to commemorate his death, burial, and resurrection on the first day of every week by partaking in the Lord's Supper.
