She is a brown patch tabby and white. When a tabby cat has patches of orange or beige she's called a "patch" because of the patches of color. Any cat that has white is called an "and white". So, the brown patch tabby and white, and she is sooooo pretty and looks so sweet.

A calico would have definite areas of solid color with no tabby stripes. Orange, Black, White. A dilute calico would be Beige, gray and white.

A tortoiseshell cat has no tabby stripes, but is basically black with orange streaks. If there are a lot of orange streaks she'd be called a "fiery tortie". They can also be "and-whites".

All of this discussion is of a color pattern and not a breed. Check http://www.cfainc.org for breeds and descriptions of color patterns. This is the official site for the Cat Fanciers' Association and they should know.

No - because she has tabby (stripe) markings. The combination of the stripes and the other color (in this case red or orange) would make her a "Torbie".

FYI - Calico, Tortoiseshell, Torbie are all colours of cats - not breeds. Your cat is a mix of breeds so what is referred to as a Nonpedigree Domestic Shorthair. Incidentally, only 3% of the cats on this entire planet are purebred.

You have Beautiful kitties! Yes your cat on the left is a calico. Any cat that has 3 or more colors that are clearly seperated are calicos. If she had those colors but mixed, and not clearly seperated she would be a torti.

****Jeanne**** Not ALL calicos are females. It is rare but there are male calicos.

Sort of. There's more than one way for a calico to have their designs. Here's one example of calico ( I did google search and saw the images)

I would say YES. Calico cats are know for having those colors (Brown/Blk/White and even gray) and beautiful markings. By the way they are both beautiful.

That's what I would label as a ''Tabby Calico''. Now, those are both only descriptions of colorations, and not breeds, so there's really no 'set' descriptions.

Actually, everyone who answers you yes or no, will be right, in this instance.

Your cat is what is known as a "tortoiseshell tabby" or "torbie", or sometimes "caliby".

In short, your cat is both a tabby, AND a calico/tortoiseshell.
