I got my wisdom teeth removed on the 13th of December and i was doing/getting better until today..the 19th when randomly one of my top teeth removal area began bothering me, most of the stuff i can understand but, several times i have sniffed it hurt the area that was operated on, i was just wondering what that could be caused by. it doesn't hurt a lot so i figured it wasn't anything that i should bother my surgeon's office about so i thought i'd ask here.

you should be going for a check up for them right? be careful you dont develop dry sockets. but they will hurt and feel uncomfortable for a little while. mine didnt start hurting until around 3 days after i got them removed ( i actually didnt take the medicines they gave me because i have a huge fear of throwing up) but if it continues to bother you get it checked out. but i think its normal.

It's only been 6 days you are not completely healed yet. I had mine on the day before thanksgiving and I was still on meds for about 5 days afterwards. It has been almost a month and occassionally my top jaw (not just the wound area) hurts when I smile, eat, sneeze, etc. I called the dentist and they said that is just part of the healing. If your top tooth was not through the gums then that is exactly what I had so it is taking longer for them to heal.

Did they give you a water syringe to flush out the wounds? It's pretty easy for food to get stuck in those holes with out you knowing. Also, when a friend of mine had their's pulled the dentist missed part of the tooth and it was left in there and became irritated.

SOME DISCOMFORT IS TO BE EXPECTED AFTER EXTRACTIONS. IF THE PAIN IS VERY SEVERE, THIS MAY INDICATE THAT THERE IS A DRY SOCKET FORMED WHICH REQUIRES TREATMENT BY A DENTIST. IF MAY NOT BE A DRY SOCKET IF THE PAIN IS NOT GREAT FOR WHICH DRY SOCKET IS EXCRUCIATING.
THE DISCOMFORT IS OTHERWISE CAUSED BY THE BONE AROUND THE EXTRACTION SOCKET.

You might be getting a dry socket.
