I'm not talking about Russia, or China or othe communist countries because they did/do have many believers in them. I am asking for a society that was purely atheistic and held no believe in a god whatsoever. I have looked and not seen one.

FRED--No, this is not a question that is "funny"; but is rather a serious question. Has there ever been a society that did not believe in any gods?

As far a a society that is/was purely theistic, the Jews come to mind as well as many Muslim countries that have no atheists in them.

A pure atheistic society? No you won't find one now or in the past. But there have been atheists for thousands of years. Most higher class ancient Greeks understood that the gods were fables.

Tibet was like that. Some buddahist community has no concept of god or gods but finding enlightenment. If you are talking about a society purely void of any mataphysical belief or spirituality, that's like an athiest saying god does exist. Cannot happen.

Not sure about in the past, but I know Japan and (I think) Norway are the two most atheistic societies today -- which is interesting because they have only a fraction of the homicides and teen pregnancies per capita that the U.S.(a very religious country) has.

Not saying that correlation is causation, but it's something to think about.

One could argue that Buddhism is an atheistic religion. Buddhists do strongly believe in the spiritual world, but not necessarily in a godhead of world creator. Buddhist societies have been around for quite awhile.

Can someone show me an atheistic society in the present?

I haven't either.

But this proves nothing except that people psychologically have a need to invent a god after their own image.

Over 70 % of atheists are homsosexual.

This statistic sounds bizzare. Could you share your wisdom with us and give the source for your claim?

There were small villages in the Philippines area, I believe, that held no religion before the coming of the colonialists.

Cute. Can you cite for us a society that is/was purely theistic? If you think about this, you will realize how ridiculous your question is.

No, because humans still have the religion gene.

Evolution is only recently preparing men for no religion.

There is evidence for a religious gene that makes men fear life and death. Evolved humans are increasingly lacking this gene and are increasingly atheists.
