16 is grade 11,WHO didn't get some beers on the weekend when they were in grade 11!IN Canada?here's how it goes my friend;alcohol and tobacco have been proven to cause people to become more of a drain[$] on the medical system so we tax those products accordingly, fairs fair no?in the states they tax their alcohol less, for various reasons.they don't have universal health care to support, lobbyists for big business have manipulated politicians to ensure the tax stays low, they like cheap booze.in Canada we don't mind paying more we don't want to be drunk every day; if you cant afford to pay ,you cant afford to play.

You know that universal health care everyone keeps swooning over? It takes a lot of money to pay for that 'free' care, and that means high taxes on *everything* including your booze. Enjoy your socialist 'paradise' dude!

Perhaps all the free healthcare everyone seems to have in Canada has to be supported somehow and the obvious place is liquor ,spirits and beer taxes. Can't have your cake and eat it.
