For example: When I was in Iraq, we often had Iraqi workers come onto the post for work. One day, I was walking by three workers as they were eating, and these two soldiers were just snickering, watching them. I stopped for a closer look (yes, I guess I was being nosy) and saw that the soldiers had given the Iraqi's MRE's-- pork-chow-mein MRE's, in fact, and had not enlightened the Muslims on the fact. I lunged forward and grabbed one of the MRE's, sending noodles and pork bits flying everywhere, while the two soldiers just LAUGHED at the whole thing.

I told the Iraqis what they were eating, which maybe I shouldn't have, because they were horrified-- almost to the point of tears-- that they had been eating pork.

Has anyone else seen this sort of utter degrade for another persons personal beliefs?

EDIT--Pathofreason--You've obviously never eaten an MRE-- its a test of faith just to take a bite, and all the meats look the same--like non-meat. No one can tell the difference visually or even by taste. Ahh, Army food...

A friend of mine is wiccan. She lives in the same city I do which is in the bible belt. She use to own a candle/new agey type store.

One Sunday a Baptist preacher in one of those mega-churches got a bee in his bonnet about her store. He preached about "satanists" among them and explained how the city's "good Christians" should do something about it.

Not only did they protest her store, someone broke the windows of her store 2xs, through paint all over and harassed customers going in.

Her 13 year old daughter was constantly bullied and beat up. She changed schools to be harassed still so she had to be home schooled.

The worse was someone poisoned their 2 cats and nailed them to the front door of their house. My friend had to finally move because she feared her and her daughter's life was in danger.

Well I think the biggest problem here is that the Muslim men didn't know that they were eating pork. I mean pork looks pretty different than Chicken or Beef. You would think they would be as educated and enlightened about Science as they claim. Sadly the majority are Ignorant. That is why the are Muslims.

Everything I see from religion degrades overall human common sense and sensibility.

I have eaten an MRE.....I am not saying what the soldiers did is right...but if you will notice the majority of the people in these countries are very ignorant...And Islam is directly to blame..

I have never done anything more than argue with others regarding faith. I guess i am lucky enough to live in Seattle where these sorts of things must happen less. I have never really seen much in the way of violence against another for religion or lack thereof.

Wow. That's so low. I'm actually horrified.

The worst I've seen was a friend egg a hasidic Jewish man on Mat Night (night before Halloween) when we were kids. The rest of us gave him such a beating later, the rest of the eggs ended up on him.

I've seen it when Fundamentalist Protestants picket in front of St. Louis' Cathedral in New Orleans saying that Roman Catholics are damned (as well as anyone else not of their own flavor of Christianity)

I own a Bible-flask. Went to my buddy's wedding earlier this year. His wife's family is very religious. Anyway, my buddy's father-in-law was very impressed by my Bible. I got trashed that night and had the Bible-flask on the dance floor and was grinding on a bunch of girls. I think I confused him.

...but I did feel bad afterwards. Once you think about it, it was wrong to do.

I once made a Catholic nun cry -- by pointing out that her inability to listen to what others were saying was leading to a breakdown in communication.

It was one of my favorite moments from 16 years of Catholic education.

Feed me pork anytime -- but please, no cilantro.

Sure. Sadly I have. All in the name of "spreading Jesus' word". Its sad really. I always see Jesus shaking his head and saying "They just didn't get it".

the worst thing I have ever seen done is those idiots that picket soldier's funerals... Eh. :(

Otherwise the worst thing that's happened to me is people who give me their stupid tracts...

Rejection. If I'm not mistaken, & I'm pretty sure I'm not, that is what the Bible says pained Jesus the most. Sticks & stones can break your bones, but words can surely hurt you.
