Absolutely. My Mom has COPD, the doctor told her she needs to stop smoking but she won't. She has to have some surgery but won't go have it because no smoking allowed in the hospital so she would rather not have the surgery than stop smoking. My husband smoked until his heart attack last year. He said he could never stop smoking but he has not had a cigarette since the day of his heart attack. Which proves you can do anything if you want to do it bad enough.

Nicotine is the addictive drug in cigarettes, and check with any M.D., they will agree that it can be just as if not more than addictive (nicotine) heroin. When a smoker can't have their fix, it is the same like a heroin user, they "WISH" they would die, but the actual percentage of people who die are less than "2" per cent (from "one-off" heart attacks, and such). The cigarette's have over 1000 other CHEMICALS, also known as carcinogens-when you smoke you are putting arsenic, syanide, formaldehyde, strychanine and hundreds and hundreds more directly into the bloodstream. The cigarette manufacturers were "boosting the nicotine quantity approximately 30 yrs. ago when their individual sales dropped, and this was a viscious cycle and people were dropping like flies, that is when the major increase of cigarette related deaths occurred, they didn't give a hoot for people's health, they just kept increasing the nicotine continually. The reason they had to do this is you build up a resistance (also known as tolerance) to the nicotine and gradually the amount of actual cigarettes gets increased by the addicted smoker, just as any drug addict would with any drug."- I started smoking stupidly at age 14, and by age 29 I had tried to quit more times than I can count. I managed to quit at 31 and stayed smoke free for one and a half years!!!!-The first MAJOR disaster in my life and I had "THAT ONE" that always hooks you right back up, and I smoked for another 3 yrs. I am happy and yes proud to say I am now truly a non-smoker, I get nausea if I am around smoke (like a concert) but in general it is up to me NOT to be around smoke and smokers which I do. My taste buds came alive, I only gained 4 lbs. (which I needed anyway) and I no longer smell like a walking ashtray 24/7
I hope that gives you help with your question.
God Bless (Happy holidays too!)

Yes you can become addicted and yes if a person is addicted they can have mood swings when they try and quit but that is why they make patches and pills and gum and shots to help you get over it. The best thing to do is never start smoking in the first place you will save a pile of money and you will smell pretty.

Yes, cigarettes are very addictive. I have tried to quit many times and have yet to succeed. 90% of people who try to quit smoking cigarettes fail. If you are thinking of smoking, don't, as you will regret it later in life. It will cost you lots of money and your health when you are older, Most people get very moody and agitated when going through nicotine withdrawals.

I think they can get cranky, maybe slightly violent. It more like a nervous habit addiction than crackhead like...
