My children love soccer because it's easy and doesn't require a lot of coordination. My four year old son is playing lacrosse for the first time (as did I as a child) and he loves it! He's not really into the other types, he'd rather watch TV. My daughter who is six enjoys swimming, ballet, figure skating and, of coarse, soccer. She had played T-Ball last year and was bored much of the time, and usually ended up hitting the T and not the ball. And when she played outfield, she would run to get the ball, get distracted and play with it alone until someone brought her back to the game. So, out of the three you choose, go for soccer.

Soccer for the previous reasons mentioned. Basketball is more of a middle school sport and softball (though I played a lot in high school and college) is booooorrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg!!! Unless you are drinking beer and I don't think you want to start your daughter on that this soon....
I don't suggest karate or some of the other martial arts unless you have a lot of money to blow. Not only do you have monthly fees, but you have to pay for each belt and any equipment that they want you to buy - oh - and they make you sign up for lengthy contracts (7 months in my town) so you are totally hosed if your kid hates it!

Is she very coordinated? If she isn't it might be difficult for her to do these. My best suggestion would be buy the different sports equipment and try her out on each at home. Whichever one she seems to like to try or seems to be best at would be a good choice. Plus it wouldn't be bad to have a basketball, soccer ball, bat and ball anyway. If you don't want to buy them, you probably can borrow some from friends who have kids. Also what are her friends into? If she has a friend who's taking one of these it will be more fun for her.

Soccer is a good sport to start with. I'm not athletic at all, more the dancer - cheerleader type and so is my daughter. Soccer is definately the more girly sport out of the 3 plus it's easy to follow and the rules are simple!

Definitely not a team sport. She has her whole life to be part of a useless team that is political and perverted. Allow her to master a skill first. Is she fast, possessing great balance or eyesight? Her talent should determine her sport. I would probably let my daughter do one indoor sport, for when the weather is poor; and an outdoor sport, that involves running. That basically narrows it down to ice skating, gymnastics, and tennis. She has to love it though, so let her develop an idol, in some form, and pursue her dream.

softball or soccer
soccer is best for those kind of kids who just need to release some energy and run around
in softball, most of the kids just sit there waiting for a ball to come, or play in the dirt, or pick the grass. But if your child is anything like me, go with softball (The quiet, more calm type of person)
I love softball =D

My kids liked soccer at that age because it was simple and the rules were easy to learn, and they didn't get bored playing.
They didn't quite have the coordination for basketball, and got bored waiting in the outfield and waiting to bat in softball.

Soccer is the best sport for the youngsters. It teachs cordination, and also teaches your child how to play with others and get results when you work together.
