Yes it can be tattooed as long as the scar has now turned pale in colour and is not still raised.
Most scar tissue can be tattooed over after about 5 years.
I have seen some good work over scars, and in a lot of cases, it has given the person their life back.
Choose your artist carefully and talk things over with them.
You can check out some tatts here.

We do a lot of tattooing over scars. In fact, the action of the needles against the scar actually improves the condition of a healed scar, oftentimes flattening it more if raised, and making it feel less tight.
A fern branch all on its own might look a little odd. Discuss the details with a very qualified tattoo artist. I am sure together you will come up with a great plan of action.
There is NO greater chance of infection on a healed scar than on any other type of skin.

Go to the tattoo shop and tell them what you're planning on doing. Let them see the scar and they'll tell you if it can be tattooed or not. I had back surgery 3 years ago and had the scar covered with a tattoo. The tattoo took beautifully- you can't even tell that there's a scar there unless you look really closely at it.

Yes its possible to cover it up with a tattoo. Your best bet is to talk it over with a tattoo artist. I have seen some photos of some nicely done cover-ups over scars.

I'm planning on doing the same thing! i think it should be fine, if the scars that old then i don't think that there is any risk of an infection in the scar, alothough mine on the other hand is only 2 yrs. old, so i might have a greater chance of infection!
just make sure to take care of it!

Im not sure, but it proabably be covered up, but make sure the person that does the tatoo uses fresh needles, uses gloves, and that kind of stuff. Search and see what tatoo shops meet the standards, for a safe tatoo.
A girl in this magazine, she got a tatoo at a friends house, and it got infected and she couldnt wear shoes. the tatoo could just get peeled off.
Hope i helped!

you can tattoo over scars but they can rip cos th tissue is weak so be very careful. You don't say how old the scar is but wait for at least a year for the car to completely heal.

Yes, and thats a good idea only if it bothers you a lot.
Tattoos are scars too. In 10 years times it will still be there.
Be sure you're sure!
