If it is in someones home I would eat a little of everything and say how nice the meal was. I would never insult someone by not eating it since they were kind enough to invite me for a meal.

If in a restaurant I will asked the order be done over again. If at family or friends. I will try and be polite as I can and eat a little. I think they made the effort no matter how bad it is. Sometimes you have to smile even though inside you are gagging. Thats just me though

in a restaurant; I would only eat a little and tell the manager I wouldn't pay for crap. At someones house I would only eat what ever was good, just more of it. They can't make everything badly.

Put it in separate piles and cut it up a lot. I'd just try to choke down as much as you can and use a large lunch excuse. Don't skip the separate piles... it makes it look like you ate more than you di.

That's a difficult one to answer, Jason.......if it were
a) family
b) friends
c) out to lunch/dinner with boss/clients/whomever
c) myself/partner
a) suffer and eat it.......tell them it was great, but you'd "rather eat light"
b) Real friends would never serve you anything you didn't like or couldn't stomach.......i.e., would your friends serve you a pork loin roast if they knew that you [might be or] were vegetarian??
c) Best one of the bunch, you could order whatever you want..... be sure and let them order first, and them go from there.....order "mid menu'.........just if you're with the boss, NEVER order liquor, wine etc.........Sparkling water with a splash of juice is a better look....
d) scream bloody murder to the manager, host or server.....you might want to see my Q&A in that subject.....

I try little bits. Then I make up an excuse like "This is so good, but I had such a huge lunch! I just can't eat another bite."
