I think it is the most horrible christian song. He is the greatest christian artist I know and his music is great, but that is the worst song ever created by a Christian. He talks about daming the witch to hell, and never does anything Christian. He like struggles with it, and leaves. Thinking he is a strong christian, just because he did not test God. If I had the opertunity I would have invited the witch to church....and I have done that once. Well one of those hand fortune tellers, and crystal ball ladies. He should of invited the witch to church....fight for her soul. That is the purpose of the cross. HE never mentioned anything about the blood, he just said you wait when those demons you walk with take your soul to HELL.......it is so bad. Poor lady, I hope alot of christians are not like that. We need to save them, not dame them.

it is just that he should have said now that you have invited me here, not will you do the honor of coming with me to church for a service. Maybe Carmen was frightened of him???

I'm very familiar with the song. I used to love it, but now I tend to agree with your assessment. The dilemma is that there ARE actual enemies of God. However, you are correct in saying that our general mentality should not be "us against them." Paul says in 1 Corinthians 5 that we should not avoid worldly people, but professed Christians who are not living a repentant lifestyle. Jesus certainly hung around those who wanted nothing to do with God. At the same time, there is a time to fight for the truth, so to speak - like Elijah and the prophets of Baal. We just have to continue to pray for wisdom to know the difference and when to respond graciously and when to respond firmly. Jesus did both - but, generally speaking, his firm, harsh reactions were reserved for demons and/or spiritual hypocrits who were leading others astray.

The "witch" in the song is suppose to be Isaac Bonewitz. If you watch the video the name on the mail box is something like, "Shmonewitz". I was a Carmen fan as a kid. He was big with the Southern Baptist crowd. I even went to a concert. I was ignorant. Later, I would make the connection when I met Isaac Bonewitz, who is a very groovy, down to earth kind of guy. He's so far from the greasy LeVey look a like in the video it is hilarious. Or it would be funny, if it weren't character assassination. It was only then that I realized just how much of a hateful lying sack of dookie Carmen really was.

EDIT: It isn't on the mailbox, it is in the introduction to the letter in the very beginning. The witch's name is Isaac Horowitz. You can watch the vid on Youtube.
Bluechoas: Yes, the very same. He's a lovely man who likes to joke and sing songs around the camp fire. He is not wealthy. He speaks and teaches classes for very reasonable fees. He does not boast and is in fact very self depreciating in his humor. The idea that he'd, "curse a man with AIDS", as the song says is absurd. He was an easy target for Carmen because he is the only person to ever obtain a degree in witchcraft from a major university and back in his teens he hung out with all sorts of weird and shady people and that has been played up alot by the Christians who want to smear him.

First, please stop using "Wicca" and "witchcraft" as synonyms. Witches practice a form of magic. Christian witches are Christians that practice that form of magic. If they are Wiccans, they they follow the religion of Wicca, and the rest of your question is moot. There were no mentions of witches in the Bible until the KJV. This is because King James was paranoid about witches and he lived in the time of the European witchcraze. Many Bible translations say sorceress, not witch, and from what I understand even that is a rough translation. The Hebrew word used denotes a person who uses particular types of magic. There are certain practices that are forbidden. There is no blanket forbiddance against magic. On top of which, most Christians believe the OT rules are only for Jews or that they were wiped away entirely by Jesus. If you stand by the rule "Thou shall not suffer a witch/sorceress to live" then you shouldn't be eating pork and shellfish either, and you should be following all the other rules in the OT that Christians ignore. There are some people who follow a religion they call Christian Wicca, but in the eyes of most the religion is neither very Christian nor Wiccan.

I completely agree, although I haven't heard the song.

edit- I just watched the video on youtube, and as a Christian I can say it's truly sad. I'm surprised that Issac guy didn't sue for portraying him like that. I have a cousin that is Wiccan, and she is very peaceful and loving, and although I would love for her to be a Christian, I don't bash her for not converting, that's not the way God wants it done. I just pray for her, and talk with her about my life, and hope that someday she'll chose the only path to heaven.

I bought a used ipod from a yard sale. That song was on there. The funniest load of junk I ever heard. He obviously got a hold of one of the wannabe's or someone who likes to dabble playin with "the dark arts"
I erased it, replaced it with some KISS

Edit; Glee, that was supposed to be about ArchDruid Issac Bonewits? Wow!

I own the video, I don't think he damned the witch, but I could be wrong, perhaps in real life he attempted to convert them and they refused and then he explained where they would go.
