first, you've gotta know that religion is only a ritual in a ceremony. It has nothing to do with what God is looking for. God is looking for a relationship with you not religion from you. He wants to bond with you. He wants you to fall in love with Him like He fell in love with you. Everyday you wake up it's because He wanted to talk with you. To walk with you and blow your mind by showing you things you things you've never seen before. Like the fresh morning you wake up to. He keeps you all through the day protecting you from things that could hurt, harm or kill you. Some of these things He lets you see so that you'll know that He's still there protecting you, and the rest He doesn't let you see because He wants you to trust Him to keep protecting you. At night when you get sleepy, He lays you down and rocks you to sleep just like a baby. Even when it seems like it is a long and restless night, we find out when we wake up feeling refreshed, that we did indeed fall asleep. Yes, people can live without religion. But I dare not try to live without a relationship with God.

Can you live? It depends on what your definition of life is.
You can live a somewhat good life without religion or one "hell" of a life with or without religion.
The main thing is not what I say nor anyone else here that matters. It is what will you do when you face your creator?
How will you measure up to His standards?
You can tell me and others that you don't believe in a creator or any other thing that people "made up".
But what if there is a creator and He will hold you accountable for your actions according to His standards?
What religion can save you then?
Would it work if you answered, I am a Buddha, Mormon, Christian, Catholic, Methodist, Muslim, Hindu, or any other religion out there? Who would you "put your money on"?
The truth is out there.
God wants you to know Him, to know the Truth!
Jesus said,"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
That is a bold statement! What other "religious leader"
made such a claim?
Check out what other "religious leader" have for evidence to prove or disprove what they claim.
Proverbs 8:17 says,
"I love those who love me,
and those who seek me find me."

Religion is man admitting that he was created by a higher power than here on earth. I seriously can't look at the beautiful and complicated, yet purposeful creation in this world and not know that it had a creator. That is like looking at a city and saying that the buildings were formed by several explosions and they just happened.I believe God created this universe and everything in it. I believe He has also created a place for our spirits to go when we die. I am convinced that the Bible is our instruction manual through this life and makes perfect sense of everything. And no, I couldn't live without Him. He is my Father, creator and Savior.

You tell me. The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and just about every document that brought this nation into being was founded on the principles of Christianity (John Locke is a good example). The Crusades: nations rose and fell as countless men shed blood in the name of their deity. Europe was in shambles and divided amongst lords and barons. Union was only possibly when the call of the cross brought Christians together. The call of the Jihad brought the Muslims together to battle for Jerusalem. History goes on and on. Without the Catholic Vatican, empires would have been without guidance.
We can't live without religion. As social beings we discriminate or unite based on our differences and similarities.

Man was created in God's image. That is to say we manifest qualitites that Jehovah God possesses such as love, kindness, mercy, justice etc.
We were created with a spiritual need.We were not designed to guide or govern ourselves.
You only need to look around the earth today and see the damage that has been done not only to mankind but also to the earth itself because most of mankind does not take direction or instruction from Jehovah God's Word, the Bible

Of course people can live without it - the number of unbelievers, non-practising, etc far outnumber those who do.
We are all born unbelievers - and therefore require conversion, to become a believer.
Religion does this - program people to believe in their religion - it is what they do. Unfortunately it is all a sham a fascade, a con. It is not real in most cases - especially for the Jews, Christians and Muslims. Their brand of religion have the constant overtones of "preaching" to them all the time. Preaching is all throughout the Bible.
Try listening to someone talking about their religion - how they are constantly stating - what they think are 'facts' but are merely propaganda - dogma and rhetoric - in which there is no proof/evidence for what they are saying. Above all, it is not logical or reasonable - it is in fact unbelievable and implausible. ie. impossible.
It is not that humans require religion - it is that religion that require gullible humans to convert. It is best not to believe in religions that stretch the truth, and require you to use your imagination to believe in it, while having to discard common sense (logic and reason).

Well, because God existed before man.
About the second question, the comunists and the atheists have been saying that for 2 centuries.
In Italy, the atheists, and similar groups said that they would hang the last king with the guts of the last pope
Well, the last king of Italy died, but not hanged.
And there is still a pope in the Vatican

Religion was created out of humans urge to learn about the world. Religion is the explanation they came up with to explain how the world came about, how humans came about, what happens after you die, how you are born, etc. People couldn't accept the fact that the world was a big unknown and so they made up ideas and the ideas turned into beliefs and more people accepted the beliefs and they then turned into religions.

Someone has said, "Man is incurably religious."
The reason for this can be found in what Augustine, a famous early Church Father said, "God has put within the heart of man a God-shaped vacuum that can only be filled by Him."
Mankind tries to fill that spiritual vacuum with other things, like drugs, sex, booze, money, lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, & the pride of life, but these things do NOT bring lasting satisfaction. E.g. after a night of illicit sex, the sinful parties concerned will just feel hollow, empty, dry, dirty, guilty...and then they try to continue this life-style hoping that it will bring them happiness, & contentment, but sadly it doesn't.
Even religion does not achieve that satisfaction..
Religion is man's way of trying to reach God.
Jesus Christ is God's way of reaching man.
