Moiraes Fate: Making things like alcohol and drugs illegal doesn't stop people who really want to use them from doing so. It just makes it more dangerous for them to import, buy and use those substances.
And marijuana has killed far less people than cigarettes and alcohol combined.

s7e28w81: You can't get high from passing through a solitary cloud of smoke outdoors.
And second-hand cigarette smoke has proven to be dangerous, but you aren't against making cigarettes illegal are you?

peilthetraveler:
Sure, it's irresponsible to smoke pot when you are studying for a college exam, but so is drinking alcohol, partying, and slacking off. None of those are illegal.
And how about the various toxic chemicals that our government allows in our consumer goods that cause short-term memory loss.
Plus, marijuana only causes memory loss during the period that you're high. Once you've come down, your brain is back to normal.

Linda J: It's not illegal to be drunk: you can be drunk at home, at a bar, etc. Public drunkeness where you display lewd behavior is illegal, and should be.
But smoking pot in your own home, in a park, etc shouldn't be illegal because pot doesn't make you piss in public, yell, or do the things drunks do.
And of course just as drinking and driving is illegal, so should smoking pot and driving. But that doesn't have anything to do with lighting up at home with friends.

Todd (John 3: 14-19, Psalms 23):
There is no evidence to show that statistically, pot leads to harder drugs, but there is SIGNIFICANT evidence and proof that marijuana helps the suffering of the ill and those in pain.
Also, the users of illegal drugs are only contributing to organized crime because the drug is ILLEGAL! If it were legal, the whole process would never delve into illegal or dangerous activity.

Marijuana has been proven to have significant positive effects of relieving the pain of those who are suffering. Your brother turned into a 'zombie'. So what? My good friend got uterine cancer and the only pain relief that worked for her unbearable aches was medical marijuana.

Drinking alcohol kills brain cells too. But that's legal to do.
Also, marijuana doesn't deform your brain. If you've ever tried it, you would know that it simply slows your thought process slightly and makes you laugh a lot That is all.

its a hallucinogenic type of drug that changes your perception and sense of reality.
Since were on the subject legalizing stupid things, why not make prostitution legal? I mean really who gets hurt? If anything I'd feel safer driving in a car with a hooker than a pot head any day. Better yet, let a pot head babysit your kid (when theyre not stoned of course) I mean, you can truly trust a smoker not to do something dumb around your children right? Even if he/she decides that hitting the bowl once won't hurt nothing, which I have seen plenty of retards do with children around. How bout we use THC on a crying infant to calm its nerves, I mean pot causes no harm it just makes you happy.
Do you see where I'm going with this? A stupid question from a defensive pot-head, deserves over the top idiotic answers from an EX pothead. I have made every argument you just did, and I still feel stupid for ever saying them. Bottom line...IT'S A DRUG
mahal- Stop with the typical liberal crap, I have seen all kinds of people toke, even conservatives. you and the answer seeker obviously have no idea what a liberal is.
Sage-Maybe we should all go role in posion ivy. God made that plant to, or maybe smoking it would be better?

1) It is addictive.
2) It is a gateway drug to harder drugs. Every hard drug user to within 99.9% started their destructive activity with marijuana.
3) Neurological and toxicological damage caused by the chemicals in it cause cumulative damage to an eveh higher degree than tobacco.
4) The users of this drug and hard drugs are directly contributing funds to organized crime. This is directly responsible for the increases in violence and robbery associated with the need for money to finance this activity and the violence of gangs trying to control territory. Every pot user may as well be paying for it with a handgun or ammo or shooting someone for the seller, as that is what they are contributing to with each joint.
P.S.
You obviously have no experience with those addicted to hard drugs. It is a gateway drug! Every marijuana user will not go on to harder drugs but almost every hard drug user started with marijuana! The illegal drug sellers are also now spiking the marijauna to increase the addictive nature and introduce the users to other illegal drugs. The more it is accepted then the more it will be used and the more hard drug addicts and brain dead teens we will have! One survey of 1023 emergency room trauma patients in Baltimore found that fully 34.7% were under the influence of marijuana, more even than alcohol (33.5%); half of these (16.5%) used both pot and alcohol in combination. They were in the emergency due to impared judgement and several were fatal showing that pot kills not only brain cells but lives! As an additional look at the gateway effect just look at the terrible problems Holland is having now with the increases in cocain and heroin usage since legallizing this crap!

i totaly agree that it should be legal, here why
PS email me bout marijuana sometime if you want
Marijuana isnt bad for you. Its only illegal because Harry Anslinger
(head of treasury in 1930s) was having his multibillion industry threatened, so he appointed his nefew as head of dangerous drugs and narcotics, secret meetings were held to try to find a way to make one of the worlds best resources out of the way. Eventually the made a movie called "reefer madness"(look it up on google video[not on youtube]). All it did was tell lies to trick the naive americans into teahing thier children not to, and so on. America has been suffering eversince. in the 1920s it was predicted that all car fuil would be run an hemp, but those greedy bastards had to go and screw up everything for america. if you realy care go to norml.org (gives many facts of benifits of marijuana + pro-legalization of marijuana) if you have any questions or would like to know some helpful info when chosing where you stand you can email me (yahoo, if you scan these please dont delete my comment for this) nirvana270793@yahoo.com
if we ever want to make a natrual resource that was falsly accused of wrong doing we must make our voices heard (norml.org, ect.. email me if you want to know ways to stand for justice, [also sory if you dont care for politics but he can realy help, as he is the only presidential candiday that will talk about the taboo subject, due to fear of not getting elected Ron Paul, you can go to ronpaul2008.com]
Its a plant not an evil drug (also can be used to replace 10-20% of potentialy addictive and costly medications)

well, if marijuana wasn't illegal then a whole lot of lawyers, bail bondsmen, prison official, prison building contractors and others who make billions of dollars off the legal and prison industries wouldn't make as many billions. it would also cut back on the billions that illegal growers, smugglers and distributors make.
if marijuana were made legal there would be whole new business opportunities and the tax money would roll into state coffers. but we can't have that. it makes too much sense. much better to ruin the lives of pot smokers and their families in order keep the prison industry contractors and the lawyers happy.

Don't forget that being drunk IS illegal.
Which is why pot can not be legally bought and sold over the counter.
We know for certain how much alcohol a person can drink before being legally drunk; and most sensible people know that one drink is enough at dinner, no more.
You can't tell me that one joint won't render your driving ability, or your judgment. I know for a fact it will.

It's a narcotic.
It causes death and injury.
It has no "up" side--no healing qualities and no nourishing qualities.
I watched it turn my brother into a zombie for the first 40 years of his life.
Not interested in a debate. Your side of the argument has nothing to offer. Were marijuana legalized, it would offer no benefit to mankind in any way. Complete waste of time.
********************
Your logic is typical of liberals. Since marijuana alleviates pain, it MUST be legalized for everyone to use (not just as prescribed pain killer).
Your story is touching but untrue. There are hundreds of pain killers available, you didn't try all of them.

For all those asking why this is a religious question.
Then God said, "Let the land burst forth with every sort of grass and seed-bearing plant. And let there be trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. The seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came." And so it was. 12The land was filled with seed-bearing plants and trees, and their seeds produced plants and trees of like kind. And God saw that it was good.
(Oh I'm not a Christian, in case you hadn't guessed already)

It should be illegal. So should alcohol and cigarettes and all the other drugs like cocaine and heroin. They're killers. So don't use this idiotic excuse of "it doesn't harm anybody" because I KNOW thats bull.
And don't tell me this stupid idiotic crap making up excuses why its ok. I have an ex brother in law thats been on that crap for years. He started on marijuana and has now been in and out of prison 6 times for dealing much harder drugs.
I won't fall for your lying crap.
Edit: I don't really care. Tell that to the kid that was driving the car and lost control ending up killing one of my family friends. Sorry, not falling for it.
