Coital or Orgasmic headaches are considered forms of benign exertional headaches, and usually take one of 3 forms:

1. The most severe is in people with a history of vascular type headaches, this is more prominent in males, it is usually short in duration but may be the trigger for a migrainous event, this can occur in cycles or be chronic in nature. It is known there is serotonin release during intercourse and serotonin is a component of migraine headaches.

2. The second most common is most likely due to intense contraction of the neck and scalp muscles during foreplay and intercourse.

3. The third type is the most rare, it is more sudden in onset, aggravated by standing and may last for weeks.

If this has been an ongoing pattern it probably does not signify an organic headache issue. However, it is best to have a physical and neurologic examination. There are also treatments which can be used to prevent and treat this issue.

See your physician.

Some people (both sexes) experience headache during sex (a.k.a. coital cephalalgia) that is caused by muscle contractions in the head or neck, or a vascular headache that occurs right before orgasm (a.k.a. orgasmic cephalalgia) and is caused by increased blood pressure.
While a major nuisance and possible impediment to experiencing the full pleasurable extent of an orgasm, orgasm headaches usually aren’t serious and often dissipate on their own.
If your orgasm headaches do become all too frequent, however, have a physician evaluate the problem to rule out more serious causes, such as blood clots or hemorrhages.

You mean you get a migraine? I've only heard of this once when it was on a tyra show and the woman was actually allergic to semen but If I were you I wouldnt ask people over the net. Go see a doctor that can diagnose you properly and can help you for the next time this happens

I have had that too...occasionally right after sex I will have these intense excruciating headaches. I have also had migraines, but these are different. Sharper and more sudden. I can't wait to keep reading to see if someone has an answer!
