True. The IRS is not accepting e-filed returns until Jan 11 at last check.

The IRS does not seem to have given a date for when you can file your tax return, however, usually you can start filing a paper return early in January, but e-filing usually begins a week and a half into January.

Is the date January 11 correct? That does not seem to be confirmed, but that could be correct to file electronically.

The IRS is not offering e-file until somewhere around that date. You can mail a hard copy of your return for filing on January 1, if you have all the necessary forms for doing so, including W-2 wage statements.

Ummmmmm Why don't you simply go to the IRS website and see?!?!?!?!?!!?

You should not have all your tax forms yet, so I am not sure how you'd file this early.
