I often hear fundamentalists say Jesus is the only way into Heaven and that by Jesus only they can be saved, etc...

But how do you know it's Jesus?
You've never met him. You read an account of him in a Book. But even if that book is the perfect word of God, it can't have captured his whole person (a biography is not a full person), nor can it ever be grasped in its entirety. When you do your prayers to Jesus, how do you know the Jesus you have in mind is really Jesus? If Jesus is more than just a word, surely you would need an understanding of who that person is. How do you know?

I would never claim to have the mind of Christ. My search for the real Jesus, and a personal relationship with Him, will always be a work in progress. The only thing I can do is to follow Him the best way I know how THIS day.

Great question, opinion.

I know it's been a personal experience for me. I've met Him, and what He's done for me is beyond explaination. It's like if you're walking down the street one day, and you get abducted by aliens and they spit you back down. Nobody can ever convince you it never happened, because you experienced it, you met them. It's kind of how I feel about Jesus. I know He's real, and I know He's the Only Way. Think about it, how many other "gods" have had victory over death to save us of our sins? And the answer is simple, all we have to do to get this gift of salvation is to ask for it, and simply believe. How easy is that? In exchange for eternal life and more importantly, a relationship with Jesus who loves unconditionally.

What I have found interesting is that in reading the Bible, specifically the 4 Gospels, I see similar questions being asked by Jesus' disciples. By their own reports, there was struggle to understand Jesus, who he really was, what was going on with his death and resurrection, what does it mean to go back to the Father, etc. These were people that walked with him every day.

There's a book that might help get you started in answering some of your questions about Jesus. The title is "turning points" and is written by Vaughan Roberts. His perspective has helped me with questions like yours and helped give me a stronger understanding of Jesus and my faith in him.

I can totally understand why you, and anyone else that does not know Jesus would ask a question like this. When a person accepts Christ as payment for their sin, as I have, He presents Himself to you- and as you live your life, He makes Himself very real. As Job said in the Old Testament- "I know that My Redeemer lives". Yes, I have met Him. And so can you. Did you know that the only one that could have put this question into your heart and mind is God Himself. Jesus is the one that is seeking after you, and He promises if you seek Him with all your heart, you will find Him. Email if you want to chat more

He is the all powerfull creater of everything. He knows all. Including if you are truely seeking Him. I'm sure He will do something to let you know that you are on the right track. Do you have faith? If you want understanding, pray. If you want to know Him better, seek Him. Pray. God doesn't play guessing games with us. Read the bible and pray for understanding. Thats what all Christians do. If you only kind of do it, then you must not be that interested.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Read what Jesus said and did. It's written in much of the New Testament. That's why and what I believe. PS Jesus is recorded in more than the Bible only. But, the Bible is the basis for my belief.

You could ask the same questions about George Washington. We only know about him not only from books about him, but also about the kingdom he has built on earth.

Because I took a chance to find out the truth myself.
Try it some time instead of playing this sort of hide and seek with God.

How do you know I have never met him? You have no idea what it means to be born again do you? When the Holy spirit enters your body there is no mistake of who God is and who is in complete control.

I HAVE met Him. Every true Christian has. He has come to live within each and every born again believer.
