The other night I was feeling down about some things and my boyfriend tried to cheer me up by telling me how much it hurt him to see me upset. He said how he wanted to be there for me in every way possible and make me happy. Then he said that being with me made him feel like a better person. But, but yet he's amazing already. I don't understand why just being together makes him feel that way. Sometimes when I compare myself to him, I just feel inadequate. Anyways, it was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. If you think that you can explain where he might be coming from, I'd really appreciate it ; ) ...maybe I'm just dense.

He must feel that you compliment him well.
Being with someone I really like makes me feel good and in turn feel like a better person. Plus you must be a great person w/ good influences.

Women have an influence on us guys! They civilize us. They teach us manners, and how to deal with others more effectively. It's like taming an animal. When a guy's in love with a woman is when she has the most effect. Maybe you don't see it.

Ever notice how guys live without women? I mean their apartments? They live like bears with furniture. Guys don't even know what to put up on walls. They throw beer cans on the floor and collect them every few weeks. Guys don't know how to live! When a guy meets a great girl and falls in love with her, THEN he cares about how his place looks, how he looks himself.

That's what your guy is probably saying.

Well, to put it simple, caring and helping someone you love is a big progress and a great way to learn and share. That's exactly what i told a friend of mine although she left me because she wants nothing but just being friends.

It is a line that Jack Nicholson said to Helen Hunt in the movie As Good As it Gets. That doesn't mean he doesn't really mean it.

I think it means he respects you and values you as a person and he wants you to think well of him so he tries to be the best person he can be so as not to let you down. And for him to be worthy of your love and respect.
