Because he s an almighty control freak. Whether it is sex or any other act of which god disapproves, god gets his knickers in an almighty wad if puny humans don t do what He says (or do what He says not to do). Like all control freaks god is a woefully insecure, whiny uber pansy with a monumental ego. This laughably "perfect" being is a gargantuan super pansy and an unimaginably immature, emotional wackjob.
Compared to an all knowing, all wise, all powerful, all sufficient, timeless and eternal being, human beings are less than a brainless, drooling, incompetent, impotent, bawling newborn. Humans are less than an amoeba to such a being. Yet god cares (and gets either upset or pleased) by the actions of amoebas? He gets offended (wounded, emotionally injured) by brainless, powerless, drooling idiots who live less than a nanosecond (compared to eternity). Yeah. That s believable. LOL. NOT.

I don't see it as being such a big deal to God.
But sex is serious business. Marriage is one way of making sure that it is handled with a degree of responsibility and respect. Do I think it can be handled that way without marriage? yes. But often it isn't. Too often people think with their genitals, and forget all that is involved.
This, incidentally, is from a Wiccan elder. To us, sex is also sacred, though not necessarily requiring marriage to sanctify or justify it.

God loves us. All of His "rules" are there for our benefit. It is like a parent telling their young child not to play in the street. While it may be a source of enjoyment, getting run over by a car could be fatal. Living chaste while you are single is a protection for you and society. It is no coincidence that our modern society devalues human life so much. Contraception, abortion, euthenasia, the focus on self pleasure, they are all consequences rooted in pre-marital sex, or at least the attitudes. There is no doubt that statistically, people who have sex before marriage fall into a significantly higher probability of their marriage ending in divorce. If you think divorce is fun, then talk to someone who's been through it.

I think that if marrieds want to have sex, they should go right ahead, and have it!!!
But, as for the rest of us?, as long as we are free consenting adults,and use condoms, we can do pretty much whatever we want.
I don't allow a 2000 year old book, to control my daily life. I use logic, common sense, law of the land, and my own personal code, to govern, my behavior.
As for the religious viewpoint?, I could care less, nor do I need their input,on how to live my life.

Sex is to be for married couples only. They reason why is because God joins our spirits to who ever we have sex with. If you end up not getting married then you are joined to that person even though it is not your spouse. God knows that you will always think about other relationships instead of your spouse which is why just one partner is the best solution for married couples. When my ex remarried God removed her from my heart and note it did hurt but it was the only way since she was no longer married to me.

It's really not. Marriage was something invented by men. Back in the old testament, men and women got together then as we do now when we decide to shack up.

Probably because sex is meant for procreation and children are reared more successfully with two parents rather than just one. But now we have birth control....YAY!

It's a big deal because God Himself ordained marriage between man and woman and sanctified it. The first marriage on earth was performed by God with Adam and Eve for time and all eternity.
