I flat iron my hair a lot (yeah I know it's bad, but I can't help it so I don't need you scolding me) and I plan on getting a new one soon. I'm pretty much set on getting a Chi, but just in case, how do Sedu and Bed Head compare?

I have short hair, but my sister has long, curly/really wavy hair. I wanted to get the 1/2", but then I don't know if it'll work all that well on her hair. If not the 1/2" or 7/10" Turbo, I guess we'll get a 1". What do you guys think? Can anyone give me any specific suggestions?

Any help would be really appreciated.

I've used both a Chi and a Sedu and I greatly prefer the Sedu. Both from personal experience and my friends, Chis tend to work great for a year and then stop working. My Sedu has been going strong for two years now. I use mine for straightening, curling, and flipping and have seen no damage to my hair.

Good news: flat irons aren't necessarily bad. A person just shouldn't be careless with them (but you know that ^_~). If you buy the right flat iron, use the right heat protectants, don't over-use the thing, and get trims when necessary, you will be fine.

What makes the Sedu so cool is that it has tourmaline plates. Tourmaline is a kind of stone. I have read this damages hair even *less* than even ceramic plates. I haven't heard much about the Bed Head, but I can tell you one thing about the CHI. I've read a lot of product reviews and message board postings about how great the CHI is at first.......but it breaks easily, dies suddenly, and after a year may not work so well. I personally wouldn't invest in a CHI.

I always recommend the Solia. It is quite similar to the Sedu(it has tourmaline plates) but is less expensive. Only $88 on Folica.com with a 1 yr. warentee. My Solia is one of my most closely guarded possessions. It doesn't fry my hair and it actually works.

Even so, if you decide you don't want a Solia, go with the Sedu.

P.S.-->When looking for heat protectants, look for products that contain silicones (ingredients that end in "-one" like Dimethicone). I like to combine a leave-in conditioner with other products. Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide is a good product, but its kinda' heavy (a little goes a long way!), so I mix it with leave-in conditioner to make it easier to distribute. The leave-in conditioner also adds a little extra protection.

Hope this helps! ^_^

I've heard chi is the best and I flat iron my hair as well. My stylist recommends any ceramic flat iron because it does not damage the hair as much by using less heat to straighten the hair. Good luck with your search. Don't know if you're buying online or in store but havanabeautysupply.com and texasbeautysupply.com have a good supply of products. Take care.

There really isn't a less damaging straightner.
Chi is a very good brand and I'd suggest that. I have friends who are hairstylers and they live by their Chi irons. Make sure when you straighten your hair you use heat spray so it doesnt damage it as much.

chi is definitely the best. make sure the plate is all ceramic not just ceramic coated or else it will suck.
