Why not a tree and some tinsel? It means nothing, it's just a tree and some tinsel. Nothing to worship, nothing to fear, it doesn't have to symbolize a pagan ritual, unless you want to play it up as something to hate. Gifts can be given any time of the year, so what if you just choose the 25th? If the day doesn't glorify God, lots of things don't glorify God, nor do they show a particular disrespect for Him. Or are you just making a statement of "loftier" beliefs?

I am curious about this, is it image that you're worried about?

Jehovah's Witnesses seek to obey and honor God and Christ.

Of course, it is true that a gift is not wrong in itself and a decorated tree is not wrong in itself. But is it really so that Christmas gifts and Christmas trees have no connection with god-dishonoring pagan false worship?

No.

It seems rather obvious that the so-called "Christ"-mas is merely a renamed Saturnalia, which pagans used to mark the winter solstice and honor the pagan god Saturn.

By contrast, Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is Divine and of the same nature as God. Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. They do NOT celebrate so-called "Christmas" because "Christmas" does NOT celebrate Christ. Jesus was not even born in December. Nearly all so-called Christmas customs dishonor Christ.

No, the answer to your question is being answered on the History Channel right now.

The History Channel which is on right now, is vindicating every word the Jehovah's Witnesses have said about Christmas being a Pagan Holiday.

How the Date was selected, the Tree, Ornaments for the tree, how Rome got into it, how it spread throughout the earth. History Channel is really telling you the Truth about Christmas, most certainly Jesus would not be involved in it.

No, it's not that we want to seem "loftier" or better than anyone else. It's because we have a sincere love for Jehovah, and we do not want to offend him. When he says to stop touching the unclean thing, we obey. Did you know that when Moses went up the mountain and the Israelites wanted to make a golden calf, they actually called it a "Festival to Jehovah." (Exodus 32:5). And they were still executed for this act.

Changing the name of something doesn't make it any less unclean in God's eyes.

They can accept gifts anytime. But won't accept them @ Christmastime. Its due to the association w/ the Christmas holiday. They say its the association/principle of the matter. I say just respect their beliefs and be done with it.
