It was an eyesore and they knew you would be to busy praying to a non-existent god to do it for you. Hence, it would have never been done and your ugly driveway would lower the property values in the neighborhood.

They wanted to take away the excuse of "my driveway is so terrible that is why Santa doesn't show up anymore." So that you can finally accept that Santa isn't real!

Will you quit confusing elves for atheists...it is not really that hard...the elves wear bloody bells on their shoes and are dressed in green for cryin' out loud! It couldn't be more obvious unless they had signs labeling themselves as elves...
