you could ask the owner or the chef. Sometimes they will give it to you as long as they know you are not going to compete with them. Otherwise you can wirte to Bon Apetit magazine and they sometimes can get the recipe.
hope this helps

If the restaurant is a franchize, just search the web for a copycat recipe. An example would be Olive Garden's Tiramisu recipe.

One of two ways: Ask for it, and they just might be delighted enough to give it to you.
Write to Gourmet or Bon Appetit Magazine and ask them to get it for you. They have a monthly column where people do just that: go to restaurants and ask the magazine to contact the restaurant and get the favored recipe.

Just ask the owner. If the owner seems reluctant, offer to pay him or her, not someone who works there. If that fails, give up. Obtaining it any other way would be unethical or even illegal.

Have you tried asking if the chef will give it to you? Sometimes they're flattered that you love the recipe that much.

Visit the restaurant and tell the owner you want to speak to the chef.......and then compliment him/her..........establish a rapport with them.......then see if they are willing to spill the beans.
Or, just ask!!!! Nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Don't do that;-{ write to the chef or manager if you can.
Ask if they ever considered publishing the recipe.
Most are very possessive of their cooking secrets.
Paying someone else is a violation of copyright.
You could be charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
