Last night i changed my 8 month old daughters nappy and i found some spots of blood on her nappy it is not from her bum and her pee is normal so i am thinking it is from her vagina as i wiped her with a wipe and it was a red brown colour... Could this be a infection of some sort or could it just be her hormones???? Has anybody elses daughter had this and if so what causes it??? i am taking her to the doctors soon for a check up...

Sometimes the female hormones from the mother during pregnancy can affect a baby girl and cause a type of pseudo-menstruation. This is generally just light spotting and will disappear. It usually occurs in younger babies, like newborns, however. Possibly, your daughter may have accidentally pushed some object into her vagina. You have the right idea about having her checked by a doctor, and I would suggest you do it as soon as possible, just to make sure there is nothing serious that has caused the spotting.

If your baby is a little girl, she might have a little bit of vaginal bleeding, and will probably pass some yellow mucous as well. This is normal, and nothing to worry about. Blood usually sits on the surface of the diaper. If there is a pink or orange stain deeper in the diaper, that is probably concentrated urine. If the urine is pink or orange, the baby needs to eat more. Breastfeed the baby more often, and call a Lactation Consultant to make sure baby is feeding well.

I have had six babies and I have never seen any of my babies do this. I would call the doc and at least talk to the nurse and let her know what is going on. I bet they will want you in that day or the next!! Are you sure she isn't constipated? That could cause some bleeding, especially if she is having to strain to use the bathroom. Good Luck!!

It could be from a bladder infection or from some kind of trauma to the area - has she been in anyone else's care lately? Take her to the dr to be evaluated.
