What is a bramachari.. has to do with giving up certain types of activities... preferably before you start to partake in them...
Sex out side of marriage, overeating, over sleeping... on and on.
Basically a type of austerity coupled with vows...
The color stands out to show that you have committed or are trying to commit to the life style.
