I know this is an opinon question but i'm thinking of a dog that's NOT a small little one but one that'll enjoy sporting and running with me, playing, and won't make crazy noise. Also one that dosen't have many health issues.

I would say a get a Schnauzer, any size. They are great distance runners love obedence and agilty. They also do not shed, which is huge in my house. They do collect leafs and other thing from outside, so always have a brush ready to clean them off. Also check out Wire Fox Terriers, Blue Kerry. Airdales and don't count out getting a Poodle. Exspecially if you want a dog that can run. Other then a Grey Hound I can't think of one that could out run a poodle.
Take the animal planet breed selctor test that should give a good idea of which dog would be good for you.

There is no best dog, just the one that's best for you based on things such as how much time you have to spend with the dog in exercise or other activities, grooming needs, space requirements, whether it will be an indoor or outdoor dog, and so forth. Then you start looking for a dog that matches those criteria. If you don't have a lot of time to spend in exercise, then a herding dog may not be a good choice. They need a lot to do. Many of the working dogs are not easy to train, since as a group they tend to be pretty independent.

So decide what you're looking for, then do the homework to find some possible breeds. Even if you wind up with a mixed breed dog, knowing something about its parents will help you get some idea of what the dog might be like as an adult. It's some effort, but worth it if you find the right match. One of the big reasons why dogs wind up in the pound is because of a mismatch between the dog and the owners expectations. Doing your homework will help avoid that.

A nice dog from your local shelter. I have a lab and I have a samoyed mix I got from a shelter. They are both wonderful dogs with lots of energy. Purebreeds seem to have more health problems (NOT always true though) The people at a shelter would know approximately how big a dog would get. OR you could rescue a nice full-grown dog with a nice temperment. All dogs are different, even in the same litter you will have many different temperments. OH but I have yet to see a dog that doesn't make noise. If you don't want noise you don't want a dog. good luck! There are a lot of REALLY great dogs out there who need homes ;)

If you are looking for a purebreed, then a Border Collie, or maybe a Weimaraner would click with you.
Border Collies need more grooming than Weimaraners and they seem to barks more.
The one thing with Weimaraners is that, if you live in an area that gets below zero degrees CELSIUS,you will need to purcahse a coat of some kind, and maybe some littles booties. Not an outfit, just something for warmth.
PS: Avoid Retrievers(golden, labrador, etc.) at ALL costs. Most have terrible health and they CANNOT be left alone with children(they are responsible for more dog bites than any other breed).

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a hardy, highly intelligent, obedient, protective and devoted dog. Corgis are extremely active and devoted little dogs, and are usually good with considerate children. They make fine guards, and excellent show and obedience dogs. Wary of strangers, it should be properly socialized and trained when it is still young - to avoid over-protective behavior as an adult. Some Pembrokes are more outgoing, restless and excitable than the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. Several of these brave dogs have lost their lives defending their homes, as they were too small for the situation. They sometimes try to herd people by nipping at their heels, although they can be trained not to do this. The Pembroke tends to bark a lot and makes a good alarm dog. Males can be aggressive with other males, particularly if a ***** in heat is in the vicinity.

American Eskimos. If you don't want a itty bitty dog, get the standard size. they're not tpo big and not too small. They're athletic, loving, playful, great with kids and make great family pets. They have a beautiful white coat fur but it doesn't take a lot to keep the coat in good condition. And no they don't have a lot of health issues.

I have one and he's just the perfect pet! i love him soo much =]

the bull terrier is my personal favorite. there is only a couple of health issues with bull terriers over all,but going to a good breeder help minimize that. these dogs love to play hard. but like being a couch potato too.

I vote for the Hungarian Vizsla (but I'm biased!). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_Vizsla

The breed is very sweet, loyal and loves their owners (they're called "velcro dogs" for a reason). Short fur cut - easy to take care of, hypoallergenic as well. . Great for hunting - loves playing outside. Need a lot of exercise or they go crazy.

My dog is my baby - love, love, love her. always makes me happy!

In my mind, a German Shepherd (or a Shepherd mix) is the best dog you can get. They are loyal, protective, loving, and fun. I have a Shepherd/Chow mix and she is the best dog I've ever had, there will never be another one like her in all the world.
