the bible clearly states at Jeremiah 10:23 that "man cannot direct his own steps" and also Jesus said "he who lives by the sword, shall die by the sword" meaning that war is not what god wants but pride and greed and power are what people have turned so-called religions into a falsehood.
religions that support war of any kind is not following bible standards

Religion, and let me say at the beginning that I am a Pagan, is a belief system, mostly dealing in what is right and what is wrong. Those without a belief system in place tend to cornered the market for hatred and corruption (btw, why do you capitalize them and give them that importance?).

Now is when the Atheists pipe in with "I have no religious belief system in place!" What Atheists have in place is common sense. They understand that "Hey, I wouldn't feel too great if someone stole a stereo out of my car or just walked up to me and shot me in the foot, so I won't do it to others." They know empathy for their fellow beings. They know the basic tenets of religious systems and, I think, they can agree that we all need some amount of respect for each other and that life is to be sustained, not disdained.

The hatred and corruption stems from either:

A) no belief that there is a higher power to answer to, or
B) selfishness... the world revolves around me and all others are lesser beings.

No. Humanity is. If a human has power, they can become hungry, so to speak. Hungry for more. If a person has a hunger, they will find a way to find food. If they are starving, they will do very bad things to appease that desire.

True, quarrels between religion have caused many conflicts and wars, but so have quarrels between skin colors. Does that mean skin colors are bad? No. Its just a part of who we are and as humans we have a natural instinct to fight with others who are different. Sometimes we may even fight those who are the same because we feel constricted. We are a violent corruptible species.

Nope. I really don't think guys on the 60th floor of Haliburton Inc, or who work in the Kremlin are particularly religious. I don't even think the terrorists are terribly religious - not by the standards of a truly pious person.

Why?

Because all these religions have the golden rule, and some variant on "Thou Shalt not Kill." How do you reconcile terrorism with that?

The short answer is, you don't. Which is why the 9/11 creeps were in a strip bar the night before they took those planes. They weren't religious men at all....

No. I think greed for money and competition for resources are responsible for much of the hatred and corruption in this world.

Yes and no. There is a lot of hate brought on by religion. True religion has not hate in it. Southern Baptists hate Mormons for example, but Mormons do not hate Southern baptists. I think Southern Baptist also hate Catholics, and probably 7th day adventist. The worst haters are the muslims who hate the Jews and the Christians. The Christians do not hate the muslims, unless they have killed many of them .The Kurds for example are Christians. You don't see them attacting the Muslims, but the Muslims attack the Christians and have killed millions of them. In bible times the Jews hated the Christians and were killing them. Stephen was stoned for example. Later on Nero was killing Christians by the hundreds. All hate in the world is the plan of satan. He has got in the hearts of all the hating people on purpose, because he knows if all people are bad, he will win his battle with God in heaven. He was cast out of heaven by the father and has caused trouble in the world since.

Well, peoples' interpretation of religion. Religion in itself is a great concept promoting peace and goodwill. However, it is ultimately human-led institutions that depict the messages to their advantage and feed it to the masses in a way that they do what these institutions want. Sometimes it's good, but sometimes it is bad (inquisition, crusades, etc.) however, there are many other factors that tie in, such as greed, differing political beliefs, sense of threat, mental illnesses, or difference in other beliefs or characteristics.

Hatred comes from the heart. It is not just religious people that have hatred. Patriotism can be just as powerful reason to hate another people as any religion.

Religion is a scapegoat, all of mans triumphs and failures are due to human nature. Religion evolved as man has, it has served man, not the other way around.

Man will use religion and politics to conquer, religion is a tool of ambitious men.
