I know, seriously. I always liked to remember the resurrection more than the crucifixion.
I mean, if you want His spirit to be with you...you seriously think He's going to enjoy seeing a statue of Himself dying and be happy about it?

It is a bit gruesome when looked at in that way, but it is not really meant to be something flowery.
It should be a reminder while you enjoy the good things in life that part of the reason you are able to is because Jesus experienced some of the worst things on your behalf.
And also a reminder that we should not treat people the way he was treated during that time (we shouldn't torture others).

properly, permit me see if i ingredients an answer which will make , a minimum of a splash, experience.. The dying, burial and Resurrection have been all *mandatory* yet no longer for salvation *faith and believe* is, in the honour that : a million. the dying might have occurred in different strategies, the component became He gave His existence.. 2. the burial became mandatory to instruct that He did supply His existence, and that He became greater suitable than dying itself.. 3. He , returned, the Resurrection became mandatory to instruct He became greater suitable than dying and that religious *existence* is for eternity... Now, the blood : Blood equals existence.. No blood , no existence... Blood includes the very existence of the flesh in it... blood covers a large number of sins simply by fact of that actuality... the helpful blood of Jesus further back *existence* in the religious experience of the information... the two *flesh and non secular* are linked, yet flesh isn't significant, in the existence of a youngster of God... Now, Salvation is further approximately by the *faith* or *believe* we supply or have in God that each and one and all which became finished on the bypass..... Jesus died (gave His existence), became buried (to triumph over dying) and then arose returned (defeated and lived returned) and that His blood covers our sins, or as some say, Paid for them, which particularly it does...... particular, Jesus is reported as the Lamb, the *appropriate* unblemished Lamb of God...and particular the somewhat laying off of blood had to be..... basically as in the OT, the blood became sprinkled on the *altar*, Jesus himself, took the blood to Heaven and sprinkled it on the *altar* simply by fact the basically precise sacrifice.... All is paid in finished !! i'm able to't answer the *how* it would all substitute(d) IF the dying of Christ might have take place in a distinctive way, it is a few thing impossible to answer.... i'm able to in spite of the shown fact that say, and that i think of I did, that no remember the *way* of dying the *meaning* might nevertheless be the comparable.... flow in peace..... God bless

Yes, yes.... we all know the Lenny Bruce thing about the electric chair catholics.
And the short answer is... YES!
The cross is a symbol of his sacrifice, a brutal and violent one. It isn't venerated because it is a cross. It is venerated because of the price paid by the God/man who was on it.

My wife, who is a christian and a silversmith, has suggested casting a little silver electric chair. It might be important to note that she doesn't wear a cross.
