If you pissed him off - I'm sure he could have found other things to give you a ticket for. So instead of one ticket - you may have ended up with a fist full of tickets or one ticket for a worse charge.

If the goal is to get out of the ticket or to get help from the officer on the ticket (such as a reduction) - the trick is to be nice, be respectful - no smart alick comments about quota's. If you show your fanny to the officer - he has no reason to cut you any brakes.

He could probably have your arrested for disorderly conduct or harassment. If you pist him of enough the office may decide to play hard ball and look for little things, so he can issue you more tickets. Now instead of having 1 ticket you have 3-6 tickets.

Actually if you curse the hell out of a police officer they have the right to ticket you arrest you, hell even tase you if you do it enough. and they do have several terms they can arrest you on such as harrasing an officer and obstructing a peace officer

You don't need a lawyer to answer this question...

First of all, depending on the mood of the officer and what your local ordinances are, he/she could have arrested you for disorderly conduct, or just blown off the fact that you were cursing them out because you didn't want to accept responsibility for your error.

Police officers deal with jerks all day long, why would you have wanted to be another jerk they had to deal with???

If I were you, I wouldnt take it. I would call him every name in the book. I think you're allowed one push or shove also.
Finger and arm gestures are also acceptable. These guys have seen it all and nothing bothers them. In fact, the more you do the more they like it, because they just take the video tapes home and watch them with their friends. If the tapes are really good, they sell them to Craziest Police Videos or Bad Boys, so see, they make more money off this.

I would do it if I were you!!!

If you would have done it a REAL professional officer would have just blew it off. If he wanted to be a jerk he could have arrested you for disorderly conduct.

In California....

You may have gotten more things written up on your citation for your trouble, but that's about it.

Unless of course, the officer was having a bad day.

You can be charged with Disorderly conduct or Harrassment...
however, cussing at people is never cool....even if he did just pull you over for something YOU did wrong....grow up...

I'm thinking he might give you a bigger fine.. but I don't think he can do much if you just call him a b--ch. I'm not lawyer though.
