I feel this war is just pointless and many people are losing their lives for nothing. At first we invaded iraq becuase they were suspected of having nuclear weapons which turns out that wasn't the case. We've already took out Saddam so he's no longer a threat and were still over there fighting and it appears that were not accomplishing anything at all. they already have there own military so I don't have a clue why all our troops have to still be over there. and now there talking about going to war with Iran for reasons I don't know why. from what I hear there suspected of having nuclear weapons. with such a huge strain on the military do you think that they could possibly bring the draft back? what are everyone elses thoughts on the war? do you think it's worth fighting or not? and why?

Americans were spoon fed the nuclear option on Iraq. We found out from the Downing Street memos that was all created to get support from the people to invade a country that had not attacked us. We have had numerous explanations since, and all have been proven false.

Now we are after Iran. Despite the NIE reports that say Iran is NOT making nukes or endangering us, this Administration still wants to take a pre-emptive strike. In fact, they have twisted the logic of Iran not making nukes to somehow say that it means they have the intention of making them...and make it a stronger case than if they actually were making them...

Who will our military use to fight? They have been extending stays beyond contractual obligations. Recruits who have voluntarily signed up to serve the USA have been lied to and coerced into what would normally be void contracts. In this time of war, under this administration only and on an 'as needed' basis, their lives have been hijacked. People who served in the Korean war (kinda old now) have been recalled-told they didn't fulfill their contracts during THAT war.

Silly, but they had to fight to not go back to active duty. These warriors had to fight their own government to get the right to enjoy their own retirement. These previous soldiers had to pay lawyers to keep them from having to serve in this new, voluntary war. Kinda gross if you ask me.

This president has sworn that he would not institute the draft. Considering that anything told to Congress must be the truth, and is therefore sworn, Bush is just a manipulative liar. He lied on the merits of invading a country. Big no-no.

If this war is to continue, the draft will have to start again. During the Vietnam war, a soldier's fighting days were numbered. If they survived, they were no longer military. With the new 'rules', that would not matter a bit. Cool new ultimate fighting thing. Fight til you die.

Not only is the draft a possiblility, it is a necessity if we continue this path. And if we add Iran into the mix, those extended stays and loosened regulations will make a big impact for sure.

For what its worth, I offer my opinion. NO COUNTRY wants war to befall their people. The only power they have is the faithfulness of their people. Iran, for example, used to be a democratic state in the middle east. For the most part it was good. People loved the new found freedoms. However, this imposed democracy involved loss of their religious freedoms.

We had the religious thing that we hated Muslims, and insisted they become Christian-like. One major thing cited for hatred of America was that this revolution inspired the removal of head coverings for women. At one point students were going through the streets ripping off the coverings women wore.

They were ready for a revolution. We kinda messed it up with conditions that were not palpable.

To sum up, yes. The draft will recur. The age limit has been lifted, so the net is bigger. Pretty much any and all restrictions previously held are now valid-they need bodies. Numbers are important, not lives.

Go out and vote. If you want a real end to a war on terrorism and real solutions, go Democrat. If you want to continue this facade of nationalism, go Republican.

We are what we preach. If we are a country of lies and false promises-we are there. If you want to return the country to what it was intended, vote Democratic.

Well, the situation looked very, very, bleak until recently, but the 2007 troop surge seems to be showing some signs of early progress. I think, realisitically, that this President, for better or worse is going to keep the surge going until his term ends in Jan. 2009, so basically you'll have that policy going for an entire year, and we'll be able to better judge with time if it is working. And then hopefully, after the election, the next President, Democrat or Republican, will be able to come in there, assess the situation, and decide what the best course of action is from there on. I don't buy any of the rhetoric any of the candidates on either side are saying about Iraq at this point, they're being cautious, because they don't know what's going to happen either, but hopefully by the new administration we will be more united and have a better idea what is going to happen as far as US presence in Iraq.

It depends what you realy feel about the war, i personnally wish they would come out. We are in the middle of a civil war over there so how can we win anything. My Brother went into Desert Storm and he never even got to fire his weapon because we went in with bad intentions and use our superior air power to shut down communications first and the bombed them into submission before any ground troops went in. Now this war is being fought by politicians who probably have no relatives in a war zone. My nephew recently volunteered to go over ther and he is in the Air Force. So this is a tought question because it is a question of soemone's opinion and those are hard answers to accept at times. Your friend was a hero god bless you.

The war is unjust they all lied the Neocons that are loyal to Israel wrote the Iraq war policy in 1998 but it was actually based on Israeli Clean Break Papers. The Israeli plan was to break Iraq into three parts to steal the rescources. The Neocons in Bush's first term wrote the policy that called for a new Pearl Harbor. The PNAC papers are just an updated version of "Mein Kampf." Don't believe me just do the research.

Ok.. At first I was for it... I was hoping that we actually found WMD.. but we never did.... we invaded a country for one thing and changed it to our way of thinking Democracy....We have not accomplished anything and we don't want to have our troops taken out of Iraq.. America is funding a stupid war now.... where is the terrorist BIN LADEN??
I want to pull out the troops so they can have their civil war.... Where were troops in America to prevent Civil war in the states... We didn't have it so.. let Iraq go through what we had.... think about it.. we are letting innocent American's die for what... NOTHING!!! We are only bodies in the way of what they are trying to do and move forward to the future...

Do you really think the liberal news tells us whats going on in Iraq correctly? We've been gaining ground and lowering bombings for a while now. If you really think it's pointless, tell me this, where do you think the terrorists would be attacking if we left?

i agree that it would be ideal to get out of there asap. i dont want any of my many friends in the armed forces to be hurt over there, but to quote general patereaus in respect to early with drawl form Iraq: if you didn't like darfur, youre going to hate bagdad.
at this point there is just no way to make a graceful exit.

It is getting better, and more of the people are siding with us over there now. I just wish Bush would of done the Surge about a year ago instead of listening to all of the yes men.

My own opinion is that there will always be conflict in Iraq, at least until someone comes in with a heavy hand and squashes all opposition.
