I spent twenty years active duty and he reason is because too many of them are; not going to talk about the Officer's wives who believe that they wear the rank of the spouse. Too common and the higher it goes the worse it gets. Enlisted are not as bad but some senior enlisted wives do the same but nothing like the Officers wives. Could be the huge number of "Army Wife-Hardest Job in the Army" for each service you see. If it is the hardest maybe they should switch roles and go active duty. Wives and family are important but the wife's attitude that she deserves something special just because is what makes people think they are stuck up and snooty. Sorry but a large minority is like that and it tars the rest. Look at some of the questions and answers-"My husband is a LT and ...."' your husband is a LT but you are a civilian and your answer makes no sense. The range of an M-16 is not OpSec or classified but the last time I saw that question five or six wives all identifying themselves as a wife of a rank said it was classified information. Some military wives know less about the military then civilians do and they ar the ones talking about it the most.

Well, I first have to say that not all of the military wives are stuck up. In fact, the majority aren't.
However, in my experience as a Navy wife, there are a LOT of wives out there who believe that they, themselves, wear the uniform. They rate other military families based upon the husband's paygrade. For example, a lot of Officer's/Chief's wives are known for looking down upon Enlisted men and their wives just because their income is lower. Basically, in the "stuck up military wife community", you are higher up on the totem pole if your man makes more money and you can buy bigger and better things and show them off. This is a horrible thing to do, of course, and makes us all look bad. And, as always, people like to gossip about the bad things people do and never the good things, so you are more likely to hear about the stuck up wives than the wives who are down to earth and helpful.
But like I said, most of us are not like that. Most of us know how hard it is and will help out anyone and everyone. And most of us aren't petty enough to care about other people's incomes. And finally, most of us realize that it is our MEN who wear the uniform and bring the government paycheck, not us. I hope that someday, most people will realize this and the stigma that comes with being a military wife will disappear. Because after all, a big paycheck and fancy house is not the best thing about being a military wife. The best thing is the fact that you get to be married to a wonderful man who has enough heart and courage to serve his country.

You know it honestly depends on the person themselves. I have met over the years several ladies who have worn their dh's rank but I have also met and become friends with more ladies who don't. In fact I have met several Officer Wives who I had no idea what their dh's did until a lot later. A former CO, his wife instructed us to call her by her first name, during deployment she would babysit children and even is a pediatrician who told us moms to call her if there was any problems.
But it isn't just in the military you are going to find it in the civilian world as well. I have seen lots of ladies who flaunt what their dh's do, especially if they are money makers.

Some of them are, but not all are. I have alot of military wife friends who are great, not stuck up at all.
I don't like the wives who wear their husband's rank. I'm proud of what my husband has accomplished, but he earned it, not me. I've become friends with wives whose husband has a higher or lower rank than mine. I also can't stand the "Marine wife, toughest job in the Corps" bumper stickers. Toughest? My husband is gone for months at a time, missing precious moment with out son, while I get to spend that time at home with him.

I grew up military and never saw a stuck up wife in fact, every time we moved into base housing (often, of course) one or more wife was at our door with baked goods or a casserole before the moving trucks had a chance to leave.
We were Air Force so can't speak about how it is in other branches and for the record, my dad was enlisted, not an officer....

There are stuck-up people everywhere, not just military. There is one thing that I can't stand though and that is military wives who try to "wear" their husband's rank. I'd like to smack 'em!

I never noticed that, and my wife would be surprised to hear it.
Military wives deserve as much respect as their husbands do.
I truly believe I never would have made 22 years active duty without my wife being at home waiting for me.
My salute again to all our military and their spouses

I hadn't noticed but I can't understand how anyone could think that. In most cases they are trying to make the best of a bad situation and sometimes a very bad situation.

it's just like high school..a popularity contest..
if your husband was an e-3..the wife of an e-7 would stare you down, like "my husband's higher than yours"....
military wives believe that they are accomplished women because of their husband's paygrade...
the husband work for the rank...the wife shows it off!
and let's not talk about the women who have a blus sticker on their windshield....oh, my, god!
