All but one guy who worked there that I made eye contact with started f*cking with me.

It was like I had some huge sign on my forehead that said they were supposted to f*ck with me.

Don't get me wrong I thought it was kindof funny, and most of them came around once they started talking to me.

Is their some sort of look on someones face that makes military people wanna f*ck with you? I had never said anything to these people and I'm not a minority.

I know theirs only more of this crap to come in bootcamp, but are there any tips on how to get the exact opposite of this to happen in bootcamp? It seems like people were noticing me MORE here whereas in bootcamp you want the Drill Sergant to notice you less.

You are right there is alot more to come in Basic Training. You have to understand though that the guys in MEPS do the same thing day in and day out, 5am-5pm. I would not want to be stationed in a MEPS unit. As fas as Basic goes if you want to stay out of the spot light of the Drill Sergeants: 1) Stay motivated, sound-off, and pay attention to every detail that they tell you. 2) Be the quiet guy. Speak only when they speak to you, and think about what you say before you say it.

Hope this helps a little bit. I was the quiet one in Basic and it was week 6 before the drill sergeants could remember my name without looking at my name tag

LOL yes keep your mouth shut ears open and do as your told. The goal is to have drill Sgt saying who the f are you in week 6. If they don't know your name, less likely to get KP duty ( not much less ). here's one more piece of advice if your completing a task no matter how big or small, you are not done until everyone is done( help your buddies whenever they need it ). NBC training ( nuclear, biological, chemical ) you will go in a gas chamber ( tear gas ) you will be instructed to break the seal of your mask and say your name rank & platoon modo ( more than what you can say in one breath ) Remember when your low on air clear and seal your mask take a few breaths then break the seal and complete what you were saying. Have fun & good luck!

Might as well realize right here and now, that the military is mean and serious business!!!!! You should start taking everything less funny and a bit more serious then maybe you wouldn't stand out in such a negative way.

The way to go is silent. Just take everything and keep it to yourself. Once you get past bootcamp you can start talking again.

If you're joining the Army (you said Drill Sergeant), then don't worry. You're Drill Sergeant's will be much nicer. No joke, watch this, it should comfort you.

Your skin is just going to get a little thicker, don't wear your feeling on your shirt sleeve. Many of the others also gave you good scoop.

Don't worry, they're not all like that. The time between now and when your graduate from boot camp and your AIT will fly.
