What does this mean? It doesn't have anything to do with quartering troops; so, don't answer with that.

It means you show no mercy, take no prisoners, and destroy everything in sight.

It means combat without mercy, but I'm not sure what quartering meant in that context, in the ancient times.

In my dictionary it's the last definition. "quarter" means "mercy or clemency, especially when shown to an enemy". So the quote means "war without mercy".

It basicly means "take no prisoners".... Quarter in this sense means " Mercy or clemency... especially when displayed or given to an enemy." so literally it is war without mercy...

In this vernacular 'quarter` means mercy.
To 'cry quarter` used to mean to surrender.
'No quarter` means take no prisioners.
