I see a lot of questions and answers on here that are poking at each other's beliefs, especially Christianity and Atheism. People say "Oh, Atheists are better than Christians because they're more educated" or "Christians are better because we worship God and therefor will be granted into heaven while Atheist burn." WHY CANT PEOPLE JUST ACCEPT THERES DIFFERNENT IDEOLOGIES AND MOVE ON! I'm an Atheist..and yes I'll have FRIENDLY Debates will people of other religions...and i find it rather enlightening. Why can't people see everyone as equals! Just because someone is Christian doesnt mean they arent educated or intellegent, and just because someones and Atheist doesnt mean they have no morals and are evil people. I've seen completely idiotic Atheists and very intellegent Christians and people of other faiths! So I wanna know your opinion on all this, why dont you think people can accept so many other believes in the world and respect them!

Fisrt of all....im not the one confused...as long as the believe isnt infringing on the rights of others and not harming other people....though as radical as it may be...should be respected! And just because it can't hold up under criticism..doesn't mean anything...bc "in my opinion"...we have yet to fully understand things...and i do accept the possibility im wrong

As a Christian Jesus said go unto the world and teach the gospel of the Lord God. I translate that to any who shall ask I shall say I am a Christian a child of the living God. At this point you can open your mind and your heart to it or you can choose to ignore it. We all face consequences of our choices. Am I forcing people to believe as I do the answer is clearly NO. I offer them the teaching of salvation and if they choose not to accept it so be it. I think its paranoia that we Christians are forcing our beliefs down non Christians throats. I think many people chose to not believe because belief in God means you are held to a higher standard and can no longer engage in immoral behavior. Although I have learned recently that their are atheist who hold themselves to a higher ethical and moral standard and I must say I am grateful for the education. As my belief in God is so deep and devout I will not stop offering people the love of Christ if you will just believe. If I didnt care thats when I would keep my mouth shut.

As a Christian I can respect your belief but it is also my duty as a Christian to keep offering you the love of Jesus therefore I can not accept it.

I can respect without acceptance

You're confused. First, you complain about people respecting each other, but your first sentence talks about poking at each other's beliefs.

Sorry, but I can respect Christians without having to respect what they believe. I can even respect their right to have their beliefs without having to respect their beliefs.

We should all have a basic level of respect for other people. Most people are decent and trying to live their lives the best they can. After you know someone, they can earn more respect or lose it.

However, beliefs are fair game. If a belief can't hold up under criticism, it is not much of a belief. We shouldn't coddle a bad belief. It should stand on its own merit.

You are right, of course. I think most people on R&S agree with you. There are some who enjoy debate and confrontation, but if it doesn't get too crazy I guess that's OK too. Then there are some who do go too far or make more noise than sense. If I drink any more brandy tonight I could possibly act that way too (for some reason I always wanted to say "up thine" to someone, but nobody's lost enough of my respect yet!)

When respect is given, it's worth nothing. It's only meaningful when earned.

Thankfully, a couple of Christians today earned some. Maybe there's some light at the end of the tunnel.

Because the evangelical Christian movement in America is making a direct attack on the laws of this nation.

I'm thinking it has more to do with the Christians pushing their beliefs and the Atheists resenting the same propaganda and being told their "wrong."

BTW, I'm neither.... I'm a Pagan.
