Putting her head down means she wants you to give her a rub on the head. When she screeches when you leave she's protesting and wants you to stay! It does indeed sound like she's very fond of you.

My cockatiel likes to have a head scratch too. He is sitting on my shoulder right now, we have been watching the ones on You tube, which he loves. He will sit still as long as I will scratch and rub the back of his head. It is hard for them to get that area themselves, so they like that. If another bird is with them, they will scratch one another in that spot. I just say "put your head down", and he knows that he is going to get a good head rub.

Cockatiels like to have their neck scratched. *Very* gently use your finger (not fingernail) to rub around the neck and on the top the head. Sometimes, birds like you "scratching" down its back between the wings. If it objects, don't try it. I believe that this is a mating ritual (don't get me wrong--this is nothing sexual!): mated pairs will "mutually groom" to establish and maintain a bond.
