I feel no guilt for my past uses of it because at the time I did not view it as stealing.

However, for the past year or two, I would have viewed it as stealing. I have recieved pirated software from a friend. While this is a piece of software I could certainly use, I do feel guilty.

Should I commit to eventually purchase it or should I simply not use it. Give me some tangible wisdom...

Possession and use of pirated software is illegal.

That being said, I have mixed feelings about it, and intellectual property in general, because software is different from tangible goods to the extent that it can be infinitely duplicated. So if everyone could enjoy something that costs nothing to make available, then everyone should be permitted to enjoy it. On the other hand, if all software were free to the public, people might be less inclined to create worthwhile software because they wouldn't be able to profit from it.

Overall, although I don't personally use or own any pirated software, I don't scorn people that do. There must be a better compromise between the rights of the intellectual property holder and the free use and enjoyment of works, but I haven't figured one out yet. Until then, I say if you want to use it, more power to you.

Use it.

I use pirated software as a form of protest. What's Bill Gates going to do if he doesn't get another ivory backscratcher ... cry?

It's capitalism extreme tbh.

If you made a software and was selling it and somehow some other people started getting your software for free without paying wouldn't you be pissed?

If the software is very helpful, you may donate to the originator.

We all download stuff illeglly, lets faith it, if we spent cash for every little thing we wanted, we'd all be broke.

They over price software because they already expect a large percent to get it for free, so really, if you pay, your overpaying.

If you're really going to purchase it why don't you just purchase it now?

If you have used it in the past and it has been useful to you, you should purchase it.
