I had my guests RSVP a month before my wedding but this was because the reception area didn't require a final head count until 2 weeks prior to the wedding. So it depends on things like that. You might need your guests to RSVP earlier to give you more time to work on the seating chart.

A month before the wedding call anyone who has not responded to the RSVP card sent with the invitations .. You need to provide your caterer with a final head count as early as possible so neither one of you have any surprises.

I'd say about a month. That will give you time to hunt down the people who didn't RSVP before you need to notify the reception hall with the final count.

I'm planning a wedding also. I think at least 2 weeks, if not longer. You have to give a final head count to your caterer.
I really recommend the free wedding planner on bedbathandbeyond.com. It makes a time line for you so you can follow along and keep organized.

About 4-6 weeks. You need at least 2 weeks to do the "no response" calling, and you DO NOT want to be worrying about attendance within 2 weeks of your wedding. Plus, most caterers like a count at that point.

At least 8 weeks. You need time to get them out and back, and then you need time to get hold of the people who don't understand RSVPs.
Longer if there are a lot of out of staters.

Contact your wedding coordinator or banquet hall and find out when they need the final head count, that will help you determine your RSVP date.
