You should pay them. Being a Marine is an honor.

I want to join the Marines and talked to one recruiter not long ago. The recruiter is not trying to fool you though he may it seem that the only reward is having the title of U.S. Marine and being a part of the best. Only way you might get a bonus is perhaps on re-enlistment like someone I know did. Personally, not matter what title you get or what group you end of being part of you still serving for the same cause. And since I have $20k in student loans I think I'll look into what the other branches have to offer to make my life easier. Good luck on your choice and don't sign anything until you're 100% sure that's what you really want.

just like any other branch it depends on the job you take with the marines. if there is a critical need for that job...then the larger bonus you will receive. also the length of time you put down on your contract does play a factor (for reenlisting)

That deal will have to hashed out between you and the recruiter. Be sure to get it all on paper, promises on words are meaningless.

Not enough. The army gives more, because we are a bigger branch and need more people.
