I think not. It is possible to love what you *think* they are... and what they let you see.

I believe authentic love requires a depth of knowing and still accepting and loving, being safe to trust through earned respect.

I don't know if you're talking about romantic love or not, but to me that's an entirely different question. I think it's very possible to love someone you don't know. Sometimes I read articles in the newspaper or online and look at the pictures of people--be they humanitarians who have done great things or someone who has suffered unjustly--and I feel like my heart overflows with love for them. I love humanity in general, although some humans are harder to love than others, so my answer to this question is an unequivocal yes!

I don't care how long you have " known them " all loves are like starting fresh you don't know anyone until you have a love relationship with them period ! Even then things will remain hidden until after the wedding so as far as that goes you are still strangers . Love is always going to be a gamble I just hope I get a winning hand next time !

Absolutely. I think it is very possible to love someone you don't know. I also believe that it isn't a deep love though. Think about the people in your life you love. Why? You are close to them. You can relate. You know more about them. It's harder, I believe, to love someone that you know nothing about. Possibly you are empathetic to their situation or something. Love is possible, but I believe it to be harder to do.

uh...no.
You're more likely to love a fictional character than a person you don't know. Because you know characteristics of the character.

If you don't know the person you don't know any of her attributes or even the gender. So you can't make a judgement.

It's like saying "Oh I love the person 124 miles from here".

If you ever claim to love somebody you don't know it's done on ignorance.
And ignorant love is stupid.

If you're talking about inherent COMPASSION.....that's a different thing.

If you're talking about "being nice to everybody" that's also different from LOVE.

You can't LOVE everybody, drop the acid or stop being poetic.
You love the Hitlers of the world do you? and evil doers?
Give me a break.

Imagine, if you loved everybody you'd have a crush on everyone. How confusing would that be?
Loving everybody would very likely lead you to suicide.

The concept of love is so deep that most people cannot conceive of it. You speak of it as a noun. It is also a verb and calls for "action" Of course, I can love a stranger for I am called to do that as a Christian.
Sometime, take a good, hard look at 1 Cor 13 and see it not as a concept of love, but as a method for conflict resolution. We are not necessarily called to "love each other", but we are called to NOT fight with each other. If you can put into practice the issues of 1 Cor 13 - you will find the way to stop fighting.

I know it is.

I also know that it hurts a whole lot. You can never know if you are falling for someone who is completely untrustworthy or not. I did once. I will not do it again. Men lie to your face easily but there is no stopping anyone from totally pretending to be someone they are not on the computer.

I just don't want to hurt anymore.

Yes because people often die while trying to save
a stranger's life. If that's love.

It is probably easier to love someone you don't know, because you don't really KNOW them. You have just seen the surface.
